  • The fact that neither can agree on how to describe it yet agreeing on what is so wrong in the first place is just an additional data point on how stupid Twitter numbering is. I find that fascinating.

  • Scrabble
  • I don't think you understand what I'm saying. I'm saying it is impossible for the board to ever look like this during a real game of Scrabble, even if someone is in the middle of their turn.

  • France Is Headed Towards Its Most Feral Right-Wing Regime Since the Nazis
  • Unfortunately that's exactly what Nationalism Socialism was all about. Great socialist policies to support and bolster the in crowd. Unfortunately those policies aren't extended to the out crowd. And the out crowd is pretty easily defined when you've got "Nationalism" in your political party's name.

  • Yes, however neither of those words are complete on the board yet. That's fine if one of them were in the process of being played, but they're not. Rapist/racist is in the middle of being played, meaning that the previous turn ended with just "sa" on the board, which is not a valid word.

  • Alright, you've had enough fun today buddy.
  • I think the right to face your accuser is probably the biggest one.

As far as the lack of feedback goes, I can say having driven in Europe plenty of times that the cameras are extremely effective in getting drivers to obey the speed limits, but it's not the cameras themselves - the the knowledge thay they exist. Entering a 10km stretch of road that has signs posted everywhere saying "average speed zone next 10km" or something like that, where they snap a picture record the time of you entering the zone, then a picture and record of the time when you exit it and calculate your average speed. I've seen 5 lane wide roads full of cars just chugging along at 2km under the target posted speed. So for that I will say they are extremely effective at maintaining large numbers of cars at safe speeds.

Once the cameras have existed long enough, everyone knows they work, because everyone has gotten a ticket in the mail. That's when the posted signs of "camera ahead" really work. You've played the game before and lost, so every future opportunity will now have a giant red flag on it in each person's mind.

  • How some of us found out...
  • Otter common signs

    • Do you enjoy fresh fish as a meal?

    • Are you good at swimming?

    • Do you have a favorite rock?

It is important to identify if you are an otter so you can build an appropriate environment and daily routine that is conducive to a happy lifestyle.

  • Oh Joe...
  • Bootygig would piss a lot of the base off to pass over a POC woman who would literally be president anyways the moment Joe croaks.

He's probably a better pick for the country, but the DNC doesn't give a shit about that. I don't think he's a particularly strong pick, but he's better than Harris.

I think the best option to win the election would be to pick someone that's not a part of the current administration. And we can definitely count on that not happening. The DNC is too up their own ass with everyone getting their compensation for previous "support" once the positions open up.

  • In the US speed cameras are viewed as revenue generating devices, instead of devices meant to protect the public safety. So most places have laws against them because the voters see it as "you just want to charge me for speeding" instead of "people breaking the speed limit are unsafe and need to be stopped". So instead speeding is mostly enforced by actual police on the road (or pulled slightly off the road) using radar guns. The idea being if you were speeding enough to make a policeman bother to turn the siren on, track you down, and issue the ticket, you must have been doing something pretty unsafe.

  • I've wanted to do a full 4 leaf clover before. But unfortunately the one my by house in college was just a 2 leaf on the northbound side. The southbound side was regular ramps.

I did take the two leaves in one go though. I was headed out and after I got on the first loop I realized I forgot something at home, so I stayed on and took the second loop to go back and pick it up.

  • Hyperfixated on building a desktop, it's probably going to put me back ~2k EUR.
  • Stop looking at big cases. You can build a small form factor PC in a case that's a quarter the size of a mid tower case. You can literally put the computer in your luggage and take it with you when you move.

I'm not sure how you're getting to $2000 in your build price either. A radeon 7900 GRE is an incredible 2k gaming card for ~$550, and your video card should typically be about half the price of your build.

  • 7900XTX (Playstation 2 for scale)
  • I'm using a sandwich style case with the PCIE port at the top of the case and the 3 scews for the slots are at the bottom. It basically pushing the card up and backwards into the PCIE extension cable's slot. No ass sag, but I can tell there's a limit to how much it would be able to handle like that. I've got a 7900xt (not xtx) so it works for what I need right now.

  • What's the best quality Linux Bluetooth audio experience for both me and the people I'm talking to?

My mini ITX motherboard doesn't have as many USB ports as I'd like. I've also decided 2024 is the year I try to kill off all my USB micro devices and replace them with USB-C (sorry PS4 controller). So I'm going to go Bluetooth as much as it makes sense (because of the limited USB ports), and use devices that charge over USB-C

For communication during gaming over discord I've been using a Logitech g933 for about 8 years with the USB receiver, so that's on the chopping block.

I'm quite happy with the sound quality for music I currently get out of my Bluetooth headphones. A2DP gives a really great experience. Using those same headphones as a communication device with Discord for both recording and playing audio is really awful though as it kicks back to HFP/HSP. So I was wondering if it's possible to do a dedicated Bluetooth microphone? And more importantly: does connecting a micrpphone-only device over Bluetooth still need to be in the HFP/HSP profile to work?

To be clear: my goal is to be wires-free for my audio solution, while having both a high quality audio output to hear my beloved gaming companions AND to have a high quality (or at least clear quality) audio input so my beloved gaming companions can hear me. The microphone built into Bluetooth headphones is generally shit and sounds like being on a cell phone call from 1999, even when using it on an android or Windows machine that gave custom Bluetooth stacks that don't fall back to HSP. That's why I'm interested in using a dedicated high quality (probably condenser?) microphone, I'm just unsure if that high quality makes it back to the computer when connected through Bluetooth.

From the last couple hours of searching and reading I can only seem to find information regarding Bluetooth recording+playback combined headsets and the A2DP/HSP stuff. I can't seem to find anything about regarding dedicated microphones quality over Bluetooth.
