Why YAML sucks?
  • Yeah TBH I like yaml. Sure its not the best ever, but its not the worst it could possibly be.

For config its not terrible. For ansible playbooks its again... not terrible.

Why is everyone always hating on something which is just kinda mid.

  • You have the right to disconnect from work after hours from today. But what does that mean in practice?
  • There are so many contracts that say "you may be required to do reasonable overtime". Reasonable, paid overtime right? RIGHT?

All they had to do was ban the whole "reasonable overtime is an expected part of this role" verbiage, and actual workers would have loved that.

  • Post your Servernames!
  • Mine are all named after dairy products.

I have whey as the main docker host and first mon, milk as my main x86 osd, leben-{1,2} as more (arm64) osds, kumis-{1,2,3} as more (arm64) mons, kefir and ghee are old x86 mons (maybe Ill repurpose them as docker hosts someday. I have lassi-{1,2} as rpi 3b+ but they arent in use at the moment because I dont need them yet. Ive got pytia as my spine, and yoghurt as my edge, leaf is l2 so no hostname.

My main windows gaming pc is butter, the wifes pc is something similar but its not turned on and I cbf checking router logs.

  • Where is the best place to upload torrents?
  • Thanks, some of it is legal content that has just been sitting locked away on a hard drive for years while I work out what to do with it.

A friend who does archival stuff for govt keeps giving me stuff all like "hey check out this weird thing!" with some ancient film or something. It would be nice to share that, I'll have a look at posting those to the IA.

  • Email server hosting
  • I had this issue. And all I wanted was an SMTP server to send emails to myself.

Apparently it doesn't matter what you tell spamhaus, gmail will still treat you as radioactive if your IP address is listed as "residential".

  • Leaders condemn Woodside protest tactics as WA Premier Roger Cook reprimands ABC over coverage
  • The thrust of this article seemed top be: "everyone deserves to feel safe in their own home".

I disagree. I want war criminals to feel unsafe everywhere, especially their homes.

Obviously I'm being hyperbolic here, but what about chevron execs who gave Ecuadorians cancer and then got their lawyer prosecuted.

The line between war criminal and oil baron is so blurred you will need corrective lenses.

  • Big 4 dishonesty
  • We used to do this I believe.

Many moons ago, the government used to hire real experts. Economists, biologists, physicists, business people who know how to do business bigly.

Now we just outsource decisions to one of the big four or just cut the crap and ask the IPA to write the policy.

  • Which do you find more practical, Top box or Side bags?
  • I've been riding a big bike (mts1200) and I prefer the side bags. They provide some protection from me dropping it, they lower the centre of gravity a little bit, and they can technically hold more in them.

Using the top box would make me more top heavy than I already am.

I wish I could fit my helmet in the panniers, but its the price I must pay.

  • Severe stability issues on my local network
  • Yo, I have also been having problems with a fritzbox 7490. I initially thought it was the cat6e in the walls but we're having wifi issues as well. Perhaps the devices they built are starting to fail? Flash getting old, capacitors getting swollen etc. I'm hanging out for a microtik replacement just needs approval from the minister of finance.

Looking for low maintenance streaming solution
  • I mean, my family cant tell the difference between 720p and 1080p so my storage cost is a non-redundant zfs array of $100 ssds.

If you use something like jackett/sonarr/radarr you dont have to be limited to just usenet or torrents. You can also look at things like Jellyseerr to give them something that they cant get on Netflix, the ability to request movies and shows.
