Is beehaw running slow lately?
  • It was a bit slow lately. But what I found really weird is that my feed wasn't being updated earlier today. Using 'hot' generally has posts from 1-2 hours ago and it was being shown posts from 4+ hours ago.

It's all back to normal now so it's all good.

  • Thoughts on Lemmy sorting options?
  • Yeah, I'm feeling a bit lost here too. I've been using mostly 'hot' (found this post using it), but there's also the issue with dynamic posts, that suddenly there's a cascade of posts being loaded and you lose where you were on the feed.

  • Be patient with the fediverse
  • Does this momentary overload impact the feed across instances? I was testing it today and was getting different feeds on different instances, even though I had the same settings ('all', active, hot, new comments, etc.). I had the impression that the 'all' feed would be the same in every instance, considering that they are federating somewhat the same instances.

  • Can I subscribe to another instance (not a community within an instance)?

So I stumbled on this instance https://lemmy.directory/ and wanted to sub to it so I can find more communities and posts, but I can't seem to find how to sub to the instance itself, not any of the communities within this instance. Is this possible? Or can I browse this instance's "all" from beehaw?

    Thanks in advance!

What niche reddit community do you want to see find a place on the fediverse?
  • That is... competely unintuitive 🤨... like why not just have a spyglass icon there, why the hamburger thing 🤨... maybe it's a bug 🤷.

    Agreed hahaha.

What bugs me is the URL handling, it keeps redirecting me to a browser, then I have to copy the instance-community link and copy it back here for the search 😒.

The search redirects me within the app, but links for communities in comments seem to open in the browser. Seems that that are still some bugs here and there in the app.

  • What niche reddit community do you want to see find a place on the fediverse?
  • It's the 3 stacked lines icon on the bottom bar, beside the Home icon. It seems like that if you input part of the community name, it'll find it, but it doesn't seems to find communities by topic or anything like that.

  • Apollo for Reddit is shutting down
  • I loved people's reaction when they saw someone link a setting for the first time hahaha. Someone recommended jerboa over reddit and that's what I'm using for now, but it seems to get buggy sometimes and it logs me out, then I have to force close it to log back in.
