Let’s be honest, the real reason Lemmy build most of its traffic is because of Reddit users. But the thing is, outside of the mass exodus in the west that too from the PC era.. people discover and join Reddit not because it’s another social media like Facebook or Twitter that people need to reserve their usernames on like a brand or celebrity but because Google Search is kinda… actually absolute trash by SEO and machine learning crawlers.
Most of the world (I am from India btw, hello~) join or even discover reddit because they’re trying to search for actual solutions, recommendations, advice or even reviews by actual experienced people without having to go through another YouTuber which can stem from troubleshooting a router, finding an actual FOSS option or seeking immediate solutions to the recent CrowdStrike fiasco for example. After having to visit reddit every time whenever using a search engine including for education to career advice, I ended up directly signing up with reddit a decade ago.
Recently, Reddit even restricted its search results to Google only in a business partnership meaning those using Bing, DuckDuckGo to Ecosia or even SearchGPT wouldn’t be able to access Reddit answers anymore. Say, if someone searches for how to block ads on chrome as example - Solutions like uBlock Origin come into existence and continue to exist because of the combined community in Reddit that Lemmy is trying to preserve.
Unlike others, am not saying Lemmy would be dead but it would be pretty much like Discord-Telegram or Tumblr instead of wiping Reddit or correcting Facebook. Reddit is not something you discover from word-of-mouth or join from peer pressure unlike other social media which is even truer for Lemmy but because it actually helps and is useful to people.
Lemmy can’t be taking the path of 𝕏 (Alone Mask’s Twitter) but any of the good platforms were before the Enshittification with Facebook’s way~

These are my (minimum) toggles for the free version of AdGuard (which is enough) but make sure to enable both mobile and base filters regardless of your device type, which I try to mirror on both macOS and iOS. You may have the luxury of more filters if you're on the newer version but it's not necessary to enable every single filter like for Language List outside of the languages that are part of your multilingual life.
Despite these, if you still end up with any form of ads leftover then head to Support → Report Incorrect Blocking after confirming your filters are updated or the extensions are active and the people at AdGuard would take a max of three days (they're very active) but rarely over 7 days to address them.
Note:
- Don’t forget to check Safari Settings as well and give it a restart when your filters are updated.
- If you have been unable to load the video player due to backend changes then reinstall AdGuard and restart Safari, after updating the filters you’re good to go.
- If you're having difficulty accessing the site (or facing buffers) then use CloudFlare Warp (VPN) with a Gateway DOH Subdomain that whitelists

I just want to follow normal behaviour that’s also not individual to me if I am the only one to dig through settings and toggle the option because I learnt it here while others go on without it which may influence my perspective being one sided.
I am actually quite an active person no matter where I go, people keep complaining with frustrations even that this is bad and this is worse or this is convoluted but not exactly express why is it bad, where is it bad or how is it bad and can be improved instead of being crticial in the comments section whenever a discussion trends in an unrelated community or thread like c/AskLemmy recently for example, and still no efforts are made to visit the respective community and give their thoughts which is especially more clear if you’re humble and eager enough to hear my thoughts which is so respectful in my humble opinion.
I can understand the 3D Touch being lacking in newer phones hence why I suggested to continue using single tap for collapsing comments, double tap for upvote, and haptic touch to open the menu and select an option without lifting the finger at one go so the menu itself can become smaller. This was a show of understanding to declutter where you can even add triple tap for copying all text (without selection) as example while the one via menu shows select text option while keeping the list minimum.
Earlier, the icons were non-interactive element but since we have left gesture to go back layer wise, single tap on menu icons itself should directly reset to the main screen.
Link previews are still needed for posts and such, it’s just that it doesn’t make sense everywhere like the references in comments.
No, but I recently joined Lemmy and rather surprised this all have gone unnoticed given that you’re quite an active developer. However, Voyager community is much active if you were wondering.

All of them are not necessarily bugs like when tapping the icon (say inbox) in the bottom panel doesn’t directly exit to the mainscreen from this comment thread for example which is universal whether you’re on a news app, rss feeder, AppStore or reddit where even on websites tapping home would directly lead one to the homepage but here (Posts) it doesn’t which is odd.
As long as it’s into consideration and not forgotten.
What am saying is, do we really need link previews? Also, haptic touch on hyperlinks is inconsistent or not optimised which immediately opens up the default browser.
If I were your business partner in a story, I would have said this would only help Arctic to become more exclusive and preferred over anything out there by popular choice since no one’s going to complain a standard practice and may even one day force Lemmy's mind to prefer Arctic over Voyager rules if we keep going like this.
Anyways, can we fix this?
Regarding Numbered List: While making a response, the numbering stays right during editing mode - something to take note of that it can be fixed as I would be looking forward to subnumbered list like 1.1 → 1.2 next, instead of just 1 → 2

Instead of filtering them out completely try to utilise them like I have the same username on reddit and lemmy which should be the case for celebrities and famous figures as well like comic book artists.

- Only exiting an app itself is not default on iOS with side swipe gestures but for navigating through different layers of menu has been standard for ages including the Reddit app itself. The swipe actions on cells is something more seen on email clients like Spark or Mail itself if not Gmail but there’s a huge difference between public comment threads and your inbox, this is something more suitable for messages or notifications if implemented outside. I would rather you use right swipe gesture on notifications and messages only to mark them as unread and leave comments, posts and communities alone where left swipe gesture universally exits to previous menu.
- How about this? Single Tap to collapse comments, Double Tap to Upvote and Haptic Touch for Menu Items. I was only introducing the idea to see past through existing implementation of repeated taps hidden under menu items where you may even implement triple taps or use the same haptic touch to open the menu and then select the menu option at one go without lifting your thumb, Threads and Instagram app have some beautiful ideas recently like the carousel for multiple images. Am sure not being the only one here (I have read quite a thread of user frustrations on support forums regarding this) but the default behaviour of swipe gestures lead to random upvote-downvote, archive to even blocks - this is the numero uno 1 complaint of all Lemmy users and am myself only saved by drawer style option offered by Arctic where otherwise I would’ve left long time ago. However, it still adds friction if not weird on long comments like this one as opposed to email notifications which only draw a summary like any notification. Voyager only sparingly addressed this by adding a toggle to disable side gestures as a whole at a later stage but without an alternative at place like the double tap I have suggested that exists from Reddit to Instagram. If your app is the one that properly addresses the feedback I bring forth to you which are the the no. 1 complaints of users transitioning to Lemmy then this can easily become the no. 1 client to the point of setting how things (like default behaviour) should be at Lemmy after Voyager.

How to tag a user or mention a community in Lemmy?
On reddit, one can simply type u/me or r/reddit - I can see mentions of /u/user or /c/community in descriptions but doesn’t seem to mention a sublemmy like a subreddit.
Also, can’t seem to share a Lemmy Profile with their URL like for mine as example.
Can we (please) have Voyager’s multireddit migration tool?
Arctic is a (much) better Lemmy client than any other out there for iOS at least but there are some nifty features for the most recommended app Voyager like the ability to disable side swipes altogether because Apollo’s (reddit) double-tap to upvote for example is much intuitive where side swipes are used to enter and exit communities, posts, comments, menus, settings… or whole app together on Android or Jailbroken devices.
This is my multireddit link after removing u/user which were included as r/_u/redditor from an existing bug to test this for Arctic which would fully enable me along with a lot of us to leave Voyager behind.
