Dear Steam deck pirates, what's your current setup?
  • bullet point #2 fails more than half of the time for me.

What I found works for me is... well I'll just repost my previous advice:

if anyone is struggling with installing 3rd party mods and such in Proton, try starting your installation process from ConEmu (ConEmu64.exe) (It's a simple, open-source, portable terminal emulator for Windows) instead of pointing the Non-steam Games wizard at each installation and gaming exe individually.

I originally tried to do this with the explorer.exe built into Wine, but getting that thing to launch is a pain.

for example a lot of Windows programs will have you download an .exe that installs the program, then you need to run a different .exe to actually run the program. Steam's non-steam game wizard in combination with Proton gets confused by this and runs the two .exe's in separate environments, screwing with any attempts to install a mod or install the app itself.

  • How do I tame my gag reflex?
  • I haven't tried this, but you could probably do condoms over carrots or cucumbers. They come in a variety of sizes and you can use a peeler to shrink the carrot if it's too big. Maybe even skip the condom to avoid risk of swallowing the condom. Banana sounds like a really good idea.

  • Not everything needs an app
  • why PWA and not a plain web app? I think the only difference is that PWAs can ve turned into a pinned pop-up window (that acts a bit like an electron app) when using a chromium-based browser.

  • Not everything needs an app
  • The chicken coop controller needs access to use whatever drivers (Bluetooth?) to connect. On the other hand, they could have used Wi-Fi instead. The financial app, however, definitely should be a website. However, apps are a way to increase the longevity of the login token because apps on a non-rooted phone supposedly cannot leak the login token and can be trusted to keep it safe on the device.
