Who would you save between your cat and your worst enemy?
  • I'm with you there. A couple winters ago I was a delivery person, I dropped a package on someone's porch and I heard a little meow. Couple seconds later this little furball was climbing up my pant leg.

I knocked on the door to talk to the homeowner who said his mother had been hit by a car, and she had a cantankerous dog so she couldn't take care of him. So I took him

I feel extremely responsible for my cat. He's not like an "accessory" he's something I made a commitment to saving and is dependent on me

  • Transfer files from phone with broken screen possible?
  • Don't touch it! I've been working at a repair shop for a while, leave it unplugged and write down the pin.

If you want more specific advice, let me know the model of the phone. Most phones should power on if the battery is removed and it's plugged in. I can talk you through data recovery if you want

  • What are the most unconventional sources of white noise you use?
  • Also no I didn't solve that problem, I'm using an app called blackplayer, every ten hours it fades in and out for like a three second period. That's on my to-do list to fix, but not a priority because it doesn't bother me too much

  • What are the most unconventional sources of white noise you use?
  • Man I know, and I tried them. None of them were quite right, they didn't accomplish what I wanted. Like the sound on the show is just a little different in real life. Part of it I think, is the treble (insert tribble joke)

It really all clicked when I fucked up and broke the speakers so it's all coming from the subwoofer

  • What are the most unconventional sources of white noise you use?
  • Not too weird, but I found this accidentally: a subwoofer under my bed (the speakers that came with it broke)

I found a ten hour long brown noise mp3 that is set to loop indefinitely on an old burner phone. Through the subwoofer it sounds exactly like the warp engines from Star Trek TNG. Incredibly comforting, and hard to sleep without

  • What technical issues did you ignore for an extended period of time?
  • My computer wasn't booting properly for a month or two, I think it was saying boot drive not found or something. It would work if I went into boot options and picked my main drive.

The cause? I used the Blu Ray drive for the first time in years, and for some dumb reason, that was listed higher in the boot options. My computer was trying to boot into a Blu Ray of Blade Runner

  • [QUESTION] I installed Apache OpenOffice
  • You're not wrong, and I'm upvoting everything you say because I hate the smug SO people who ask why instead of actually trying to help.

But in this specific case, there's literally no reason to use OpenOffice, it's discontinued. People shouldn't have to explain how to use a defunct software with an addendum.

It's not an obscure programming language with an edge case, it's a word processor.
