Why do some people still have hope for Reddit?
  • Honestly, it's an information goldmine. You'll get answers to most obscure questions and in detail. All others sources on the internet are either fluff or endorsements. It it also inconvenient to have to visit two websites that does same thing. So people don't want to abandon what they are habituated to.

  • Do you buy cheap, replaceable things to not feel bad about throwing stuff away if you don't end up using it much, or do you pay for quality goods?
  • This is how I do it. I usually have good idea about what things I use regularly and ease my work. When they breakdown, I look for those that are well built and long lasting even though expensive.

For things I'm not sure about, I go with a cheap one and when it breaks/when I fing myself using it regularly, I replace it with a quality one.

However I've observed that the quality ones are not always the expensive ones. They are some where between the normal priced ones and the most expensive ones. That's the sweet spot.

  • how many of you have genuinely ditched reddit?
  • I have, although I'm only a lurker. I understand the concerns of the moderators and regular posters and decided to support them by not giving my attention and time to the website. I've subscribed to some of the communities here and enjoying it thus far. I'll try not to peak and get most of solutions else where but it's going to be an uphill task for me, who tries to find every answer in Reddit.
