Nintendo is going after emulators now because new switch coming soon - but emulation already provided a better experience
  • Maybe the Nintendo Switch successor is going to have backwards compatibility with Nintendo Switch games, so during the early times after launch they're planning to lean heavily into the backwards compatibility aspect, meaning they need to make it less convenient to pirate their games. It would make sense to attack Nintendo Switch emulation if that was the case.

  • Is there a community for talking about how much I hate Nintendo?
  • I don't share your opinion on this matter, so I don't know of one off the top of my head, and my quick search yielded no results.

Normally I'd say "Be the change you want to see." and encourage you to create a community for it yourself. However, you should probably ask yourself first, whether a community dedicated to hating something is even worth having, and then ask yourself if it is worth moderating. I can't imagine you'd have any real great conversations when it's all going to just be "x sucks" you'd basically just end up with the same post over and over again.

  • Gotta love Proton for this yearly benefit!
  • Nah, that's just toxic corporate stuff.

It's the same thing a lot of companies' subscriptions do where they give you something extra over time so that they can take it away if you ever decide to try testing out another service. Normally it is something small though, like something decorative or just something saying that you've been a member for a long time, so at least they're giving you something useful for them to take away later, or maybe that makes it worse, I dunno~

  • Is there a difference between drawing a random card, and mathematically generating a random card?
  • Well, a little bit of 'yes' and a little bit of 'no'.

If it is possible over the course of the game for turn orders to be changed, or for a player to choose to draw a card, or cause another player to draw a card, then it matters in a way.

If I can cause actions to make another player draw a card, then it is more meaningful if the deck is shuffled already, because the card that I caused the player to draw is the same as the card I would have drawn if I drawn a card instead. However, from the perspective of the user, there is no way for them to know the difference.

I feel like it is better for the integrity of the game if the deck is shuffled for real, though. Because if ever a user finds out that it doesn't work how it is expected, then it cheapens the experience in a way. Kind of like how the old Mario Party games determined the outcome of dice rolls when the die appeared on screen instead of when you pressed the button to 'roll' them.

  • Seems like AI isn't free anymore
  • There are a few inaccuracies in your statement, but It was clear the whole thing was about money from the start though, you shouldn't be surprised about this. If you were hoping for AI to be free to you, you should have only been supportive of software that you could run on your own hardware.

Anyway, these companies are in the position of ISPs now, where they have customers, but they don't want to pay for the infrastructure to support the amount of customers that they have, since they can make the same amount of money without making their customers happy.

None of that helps you... Sorry...

Welcome to episode 1 of Black mirror reality TV series!

Well, have fun with your pig, I guess. Haha.

  • What Happens When You Plug a SUICIDE CORD in a live outlet? Do Not Try This Ever
  • I suspect the but am not sure that the same nothing would happen if you plugged it into a different outlet in the room. Since reason nothing happened here was claimed to be that the connections are all shared, and since outlets are wired from one outlet to the next, they would still share the hot, neutral, and ground.

  • Wouldn't this mean that a majority of patients that need this are unable to buy it? Meaning that there's less customers? Just a thought
  • But if they have more customers then they have to spend more resources making more product. So 1 customer at 1000x the price is more valuable than 1000 customers at the a lower price. If it costs 28 dollars to make a year's worth of doses like this screenshot claims, then they'd make $42,222 charging a single customer the current price, while they'd only make $12,000 charging 1,000 customers the proposed price.

So for the company to make more money than they are now, they'd need 3,519 new customers for every one current customer. Since Google says there are 1.2 million people with HIV in the United States, if they have more than 342 current customers in the united states, they are making more now than they could ever make at the proposed price. Therefore the amount of new customers is almost certainly not worth it to them.

Money seems to ruin pretty much everything about healthcare.

  • Can you help me find a solution. Can I get a monitor on an arm or something?
  • Yeah, I have, and while I can use the computer thanks to this software, I still have to get my face close to the screen to see the stuff on it.

You do bring up a good point with the whole touchscreen thing, I never really thought too much about it, but yeah, I haven't used a touchscreen since the early 2000s that wasn't hard. It's totally worth looking into.

    Thanks for the idea!

  • Can you help me find a solution. Can I get a monitor on an arm or something?
  • Yeah, I was surprised at the amount of choices I got when I punched the VESA sizes listed by the arm I was looking at into the monitor filter. I guess my current monitor is not the norm and that most are built for this kind of thing.

  • Can you help me find a solution. Can I get a monitor on an arm or something?
  • Those handles look like a pretty good idea, but I don't quite think they'd solve the need for a hard monitor. Since I'll still end up getting the screen dirty and needing to clean it frequently like I have been lately. Though, knowing that any monitor I get will have to meet the mounting requirements set forth by the arms further limits my choices, meaning, I might just have to do without, especially since no one even seems to know of any hard monitors that exist anyway.

    Thanks for the suggestions though!

  • Can you help me find a solution. Can I get a monitor on an arm or something?
  • Yes! Some of their items look like exactly what I need. They have a lot of information about the distance that they can move too.

My desk is a little bit on the depthy side at around 23 inches, and I haven't seen anything that looks quite long enough yet, which makes sense, since at some point you'd be battling with physics, but realistically, I could just drill a hole into the center of my desk and put one of these in, right?

  • Can you help me find a solution. Can I get a monitor on an arm or something?

So, long story short, I have vision problems, and I need to work closely with my monitor. So I'd like to have a solution where I can grab my monitor and pull it close to my face for use, and push it back over the desk when I am done with it. I don't really know what what I'm looking for is called, or if anything like this even exists. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable in the subject than I am can help me out here.

While I am at it, I am hoping to replace my monitor as well. I would like it if the monitor had a harder material on the screen, rather than the fragile feeling plasticy stuff that computer monitors are normally made of, since my nose frequently bumps the screen, resulting in me needing to clean it often.

Once I remove my current monitor, I will have two displayport ports and one HDMI open on my card.

I am hoping to find a solution that costs less than three-thousand dollars. But with niche hardware like this, I understand that it may be more expensive.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Thanks for reading my post and considering helping me out!
