Good backpacking opportunities in Northern Indiana?

I know about the Deem and all of what’s down south, not sure about anything up here.

Lemmy, what is the scariest/creepiest/eeriest experience you have had while travelling?
  • Definitely creepy. I’d guess they were angry relatives of the girl, but maybe they were just targeting you for an unrelated reason. I think if they were standing directly in front of your stall they were waiting for you, though.

Whether it was a cross country trip, a bike ride or on your commute to work, what is the creepiest thing you’ve seen while traveling?

Inaugural post from a Michigent refugee - Zealousy + Starburst
  • Yeah, I never posted there either lol. It seems like a much more friendly bunch of people on this site, I can post reviews of shitty carts here without worrying about elitist attitudes 😆. I did learn a lot about what brands are actually good, though, so that was a positive.

  • No problem! I spend a lot of time and money in Michigan and I figured we needed some of the niche cannabis subreddits for the Midwest here. Trees is nice, but I care more about local cannabis than pictures of glass and whatever (though that never hurts either lol…) And yep, I’m hoping indianas government gets their head out of their ass soon… not looking very likely this time around though. Lol

Good places to camp privately in Northern Indiana?

Want to get out there for real one more time this summer, but I have no idea where I can camp in a secluded space. I don’t want to drive too far from Northwest Indiana, so I would prefer something in Northern or Central Indiana (I know that cuts out a lot of options for me, but I just want to know if there’s anything like that near me)

somewhee off the NCT in Manistee National Forest (Michigan)

Love this national forest. Somehow missed the sign for the trail and ended up on some gravel road somewhere in NW Michigan, but we enjoyed the views regardless.

from a recent trip to turkey run (Indiana), the closed bit of trail 3

Accidentally went on the part that was closed due to dangerous debris, lol. We were wondering why the logs were dangling so precariously over the little canyon

    Favorite city in Indiana?

There aren’t many options here obviously, but I’d have to go with South Bend. Very quiet and fun city, and I love the river. I always have fun when I visit South Bend, can’t say the same for the others.

3rd party app for Reddit, Boost, is still functioning well after July 1st
  • The bots posted most of the interesting content in Reddit, and it’s unhealthy to have a constant stream of “interesting” content to browse through. For the time being, this seems much more organic content, and there is actually a bottom to hit in terms of content which makes me want to do something besides endlessly scroll.

    Levels Brand Cartridge Review

    lemmy.world Michigan Trees - Lemmy.world

For Michiganders to discuss the consumption of cannabis

First time going to this dispensary, mainly for the proximity to where I was traveling at the time (near Niles, MI) and the fact that they had a 13/100 deal on these cartridges. I had to pick some up and try them just to see how a $7.50 cart would taste, worst case scenario I had some shitty carts that I could use up whenever or give to family or something. I was pleasantly surprised. I got Grape Ape, Watermelon Zkittles and Cherry Pie. The terps are cheap tasting but not too obnoxious, and the distillate is definitely not the smoothest, but overall it is a pleasant experience. They don’t burn too quickly, use a decent ccell(looks like the same one the other cheap carts use with the blue plastic tip), they pack a decent punch, taste alright and for the price I wouldn’t mind buying them again.

    Any counties working on decriminalizing?

I live in Lake, our prosecutor isn’t interested in small amounts, and though I’ve seen a sharp drop off in my friends going to jail over simple possession that does not equal decriminalization. I’ve heard rumors that Marion co has decriminalized, can anyone confirm?

    Storms today

Hoping for rain all day, it was oppressively hot yesterday. Anyone know what’s up with the weather though? This seems like a weird storm to me.

    Interesting roads to drive?

Preferably in Indiana/Michigan/Ohio/Illinois. I love hopping on route 30 and taking it as far as my gas tank can get me before turning back. I also enjoy finding scenic routes that other people may not know about. I particularly enjoy riding the old alignments of US highways or auto trails, such as Route 41 in Newton Co, IN and the old Lincoln Highway through northern Indiana.

    2024 Democratic Gubernational Primary?

Who is running for governor for the democrats? On Wikipedia I see the formerly republican former secretary of education is running as well as a seemingly unhinged man who ran for mayor of Indy before pivoting to running for governor. Are there any serious candidates or will I be voting third party again this year? Thanks.
