I really enjoy watching the bumblebees swarm my raspberry bush. They don't seem to mind if I give them a gentle pet occasionally as well.
Did food last year and ended up with waaaay too much lol. This year we're focusing on native grasses and flowers.
If you're worried about it becoming unwalkable you could put a little work into making paths throughout. Either just by mowing a little walkway or putting large brick pavers down here and there.

Honestly looks like cat grass. Not sure how to care for it but if you look up cat grass that can give you a starting point.
