Setup for my first game of Star Wars Legions

A friend recently brought over his Legions minis that he's been working on and we played a skirmish match.

The image linked is the setup from some time mid-game.

The matchup was Republic Clone Troopers (him) vs. CIS Droid Troopers (me). The Droids took it in the end, mostly due to General Grievous being an absolute truck.

I found the game a lot of fun to play. We've played a bunch of Fantasy Flight's games - Runewars, X-wing, and Imperial Assault among them - and I'm starting to recognize a lot of common mechanics among their games. This was was relatively snappy and I enjoyed the command/activation mechanic.

Minis and terrain were painted by my friend, who is a much better painter than me, lol. I was really blown away by the ship in the center of the play area, which he kitbashed from this Zurg Mothership toy from the Lightyear movie:

Megathread for Reddit Blackouts and News - Day 3
  • Incredibly, I have not. It's on my TBR list, I've just never gotten to it. Pretty bad for somebody moderating a Zelazny fan sub but it is what it is, lol

  • Hi @trashhalo, we're trying to keep posts about the Reddit situation contained in our Megathread. If you would, please post this as a top level comment there. Thanks!

  • I have no idea whether that would be possible, but I'm also not sure I would want to do it. It would be one thing to encourage folks to move but I don't own that subreddit (I'm not even the founder or the head mod, just the only one that actively moderates) and I wouldn't want to grab other folks' posts and comments and put them elsewhere.

  • Yeah it's an idea for sure. I responded to @curiosityLynx a minute ago that I'm really burnt out on that particular series so I think it's probably time for me to find somebody else to take it on and just move on myself.

  • I've considered it, but honestly I'm kind of tired of it lol. It's an older series and so all of the arguments/discussions are just kind of retread endlessly, and I'm not as into it as I used to be. Also there are discussions about making a tv show and I wouldn't mind being as far away as possible once that kicks into high gear. I saw what r/WoT was like when that show came out and I don't want any part of moderating that crap.

  • I don't disagree with you, but I still feel a certain responsibility to that community. I'd like to start divesting myself of that responsibility, but it'll take time if I don't want to just abandon it.

  • Looking for a community equivalent to a subreddit I used to frequent. Where in the fediverse?
  • Somebody posted this website today where you can explore/search for Lemmy instances and communities. It seems pretty nice but I haven't really used it a ton yet.

  • Are post tags/flairs a possibility?
  • There's one already on the backend repo that is tagged as far-future, it doesn't seem like a priority for the main devs but they've said that if somebody else wanted to work on it then it's a possibility.

  • I'm probably going to delete my account or at least cut back drastically on my usage, but I'm currently the only active mod for a small fan sub for an old fantasy book series. I don't really want to leave that sub unmoderated but I'll have to find another user willing to take on mod duties before I feel alright abandoning Reddit altogether.

Saw these guys live a few weeks ago opening for Thrice and really liked their vibe. I've been really enjoying digging into their discog since then.

  • On the other hand, I think it's really nice that they are distinctive from the logos on other instances. It tells you at a glance that you are clicking on a post from Beehaw.org and to abide by Beehaw's mantra, whether you're a user from another instance subscribed to a Beehaw community or a Beehaw user looking at your Subscribed feed.

  • Microsoft says the 2-3 year development cycles of big-budget games are over
  • I'm not the person you asked, but Katamari Damacy had a unique looks that still holds up perfectly, the only improvement to be made is using higher def textures for the later games and remasters.

I think Windwaker still looks fantastic, and Windwaker HD looks as good as any recent release.

Also, Hades is a more recent game with very stylized graphics that look absolutely stunning.

  • Is it ok to ask questions about using lemmy in general here? Also, is there a way to upload multiple pics to one post directly, as an album?
  • Yeah I've seen people make sort of ad-hoc "galleries" by adding a lot of images in the text of a post or in a comment. It's a little hacky but not actually that terrible.

  • Hi, just a heads up, I think this comment fell victim to a bug we've been encountering with the Lemmy software where comments get posted on the wrong thread. I'm assuming that this comment was meant to go here: https://beehaw.org/post/548563 ?

  • Sorry about that, I've been away from the computer for a bit. For future reference if we have a megathread about a big event like this, it will most likely be pinned at the top of the relevant community. This one is pinned at the top of !Technology here: https://beehaw.org/c/technology

  • new Beehaw community icons!
  • I would love a rotating logo like this. It would be awesome, and tbh why should we be concerned with branding? Why can't our brand be "kickass cowboy bee art"?

  • Hey folks. Looks like I let this one get by so I'll leave it since there's already some discussion happening, but for the next few days please try to keep discussion of the Reddit situation in the megathread.

  • The help link next to the sort 404s

Hey, just noticed that the help button next to the post sort options on the front page leads to a bad URL. It links to

    when it should link to
