Spanish protesters squirt water at Barcelona tourists: ‘Go home’
  • I get the issues with mass tourism, and Barcelona is pretty bad for being absolutely packed with tourists.

But on the flip side, tourists dump quite a bit of money into the economy, especially when it comes to restaurants. And Barcelona has quite a high city tax.

Of course this money doesn't necessarily trickle down to local citizens. But do you think the government would ever discourage tourists from visiting? I'm sure they enjoy a nice amount of revenue from the various taxes imposed on tourists.

  • Poilievre’s Conservatives spent more than 20 times as much on ads as Trudeau’s Liberals in 2023
  • MPs are guaranteed a pension after spending 6 years in service as an elected MP.

He entered the parliament at age 25, ensuring him a pension since the age of 31. Although he still has to be 55 to actually start collecting it. Considering how long he has been an MP, he's probably looking at pulling in at least 100K/yr from age 55 onward.

  • Name & shame. :)
  • This is what baffles me about these papers. Assuming the authors are actually real people, these AI-generated mistakes in publications should be pretty easy to catch and edit.

It does make you wonder how many people are successfully putting AI-generated garbage out there if they're careful enough to remove obviously AI-generated sentences.

  • Say Goodbye to Those Absurd Side-Effects Readouts in Drug Commercials. The FDA finalized a rule that will require a drug’s side effects to be "presented in a clear, conspicuous, and neutral manner.”
  • Canada has drug ads, but with special rules. You can either mention the drug name or its indication, but not both.

So you'll get ads that say stuff like "Ozempic - ask your doctor if it's right for you" with people happily eating in a coffeeshop. But they won't tell you what Ozempic is supposed to do.

  • I love passionfruit flowers, got a passiflora vine indoors which flowers occasionally. Haven't yet tried making any kind of tea although I know people say it's supposed to be calming

  • What do you do with your dry herb after its been vaped?
  • I used to make butter with it in the past, now I mostly compost it. Making butter is a stinky process lol. I like your olive oil idea though, less smell for sure.

I used to eat the equivalent of like 7-10g of vaped herb edibles before transatlantic flights and that was fantastic, slept right from takeoff and woke up touching down in my destination lol.

    My first poppy

Since I can't seem to post on the drug gardening community I'll drop this here. Really digging the petal shapes on this one.

Bonus trichocereus bridgesii in the background.

Getting that "The War on Drugs" guitar tone

    Hey,

So I've been working on recording a song and I am trying to get a solo tone similar to the kind of long, sustained, gain-y yet clean sound that The War on Drugs tends to use.

Any suggestions? I'm mostly recording direct input through my pedal board into a tascam sound card. I've fiddled around with my overdrive pedal (Soul Food) but the tone gets too distorted and muddy to give that clean sustain.

Is it time to get a sustain pedal? Apologies in advance if what I'm asking about gear doesn't make much sense..

Let's kick off the first post here - what are people on right now?

Currently just some cannabis and nicotine for me, nothing wild.
