Cyberpunk 2077 team morale took "significant hit" following release, developer says
  • For me the game still isn't "fine." It's a lot more stable now but even with a completely fresh install and save I'm still running into a lot of the problems that was present during launch like all the civilians looking the same regardless of the setting you're on, NPCs running into each other and then choking up sections of the map. I just keep running into these NPC blobs where they just stand there and do nothing. There's still things they said they fixed like npcs materializing out of nowhere.

  • 6-button Controller Appreciation Thread
  • I'd enjoy using the m30 a bit more if they fixed some of the problems, otherwise that dpad is among one of my favorites to use. The lack of pivot really kills the dpad for me since it's so easy to depress all 4 buttons at the same time. Mine had another problem develop which made the dpad unusable since it kept sticking. If you enjoy a 6 button pad you might as well go for a fight stick since most controllers have some significant problems for me.

I've heard good things about the Victrix controller and the Octa (although the octa has some qc problems). The Raion would've been an amazing controller but it suffers a lot of the same problems the m30 has. The Fighting Commander is probably my favorite of the bunch.

  • Gifted coffee ground extremely fine. how to use?
  • An Aeropress, Moka Pot or a Vietnamese Phin Filter are other cheap alternatives to try. But if you're overextracting in a French Press you might be doing something wrong with the brew time and/or the temperature.

It'd also help to know how darkly roasted it is and what type of beans they are.

  • The Fuss Over The Term 'JRPG' Says A Lot About The State Of The Genre
  • Imo, this kinda reflects how the term RPG is used so loosely used leading it to be both a misused and overused term.

It's just so generic and meaningless now since it's just anything with stats, equipment, or you pretend to be someone else. Before you could refer to RPGs as games that used systems from the Tabletop scene because that's where they got their inspiration from. It combined a giant world, the importance of player choice, a vast world, and character stats which served as a sandbox for the player to explore. Then it sorta changed into CRPG which people are now also trying to redefine into Western RPG for some reason?

For me though, the key defining feature of a CRPG was always the power the player had to control the story. They're given real choices that impact the story and the world within it. I haven't seen an JRPG have that same scope since most of them play out similar to Visual Novels (this isn't me making it a negative but outlining what CRPGs focus on compared to RPGs)

RPGs also weren't ever locked into turn based or real time. Games like Baldurs Gate 1 and 2, and Pillars of Eternity could be considered CRPGs rather than just RPGs and they use both turn based and real time. Baldurs Gate 3 is the exception to the Baldur's Gate series with it locking into Turn based only. But even then, you had games like Underrail staying completely turn based.

  • It's not just Roblox allowing casino sites and running unregulated markets. They allow for porn on their platform and also allowing child predators and child exploitation on their platforms. I'm not sure why parents even allow their kids to go on the platform since Roblox doesn't care about it.

Grim Dawn Update News: Grim Misadventure #176 - So the New Thing

forums.crateentertainment.com Grim Misadventure #176 - So the New Thing

ARPG community’s a bit active of late, isn’t it? Many new faces are joining us, and some old ones are coming back from retirement. We’re happy to have you. Somehow it feels like Grim Dawn’s best years are still ahead of it! There are rumors abound of a v1.2 coming…of MOAR? It’s all tantalizingly cl...

Grim Misadventure #176 - So the New Thing

TLDR: Due to the ongoing popularity, there will be even more updates!

    Grim Dawn version v1.2 features

    • Option to disable Day-Night Cycle
    • Option to disable Fog
    • Option to display Cooldown Counters on the quickbar
    • Auto-Pick Up Radius can now be increased
    • New visual alerts for Legendaries, Monster Infrequents, Double Rares, and Double Rare Monster Infrequents. In addition, Monster Infrequents will be marked by an icon to separate them from standard Rare items.
    • New options for monster health bars, including thicker visuals and option to display % values and active debuffs

    Past 1.2

    • In addition, we plan on improving certain boss runs in the future, though not in v1.2.0.

    • Drop Rate Changes... all Bosses will have a 100% chance to drop their (non-legendary) Monster Infrequents.

    QoL

    • Choose your level cap on the difficulty that’s enjoyable to you. Many areas on Normal will scale up to level 100. Elite difficulty will scale up to level 100 in all areas. Loot quality and experience gains will remain higher on higher difficulties, as before, but if playing up to level 100 on a more relaxed difficulty is for you, then we feel there is no reason to stop you.
    • Toggled buff effects will be automatically toggled on and no longer need to be on the skill bar.
    • You will be able to disable visuals for toggled buffs in the game options to improve visual clarity on your character and to show off all that gear.
    • The Nullification mechanic (ex. Arcane heroes) will be overhauled. It will purge all temporary buffs and Disable toggled buffs for 2 seconds. No more fumbling through your skill bars to turn auras back on.
    • For the modders out there, the console will log lua errors in custom games. We are also looking into enable certain debug commands for you, such as the debug cursor for locating game coordinates.
    • Pets will default to an Aggressive stance rather than the Normal stance. This setting can still be toggled on a pet by pet basis as desired.
    • You will be able to select your desired Main Menu theme in the game options.

Heroes of Might and Magic III through the VCMI project
  • A modern alternative is Songs of Conquest. It has a pretty active community but it's always good to have more players.

  • Refurbished Pixel 5
  • How finicky is installing custom roms on refurbished Samsung phones or android phones in general usually?
I usually avoid refurbished phones even though the flagships offer better performance and value compared to buying the midrange and budget phones but the lack of software updates are something I'm concerned about. That said, if there was a more clear recommended OS to install I'd be willing to give it a try.

  • Kbin: What is your all time favourite video game?
  • Trials of Mana. Actually the whole Mana series were completely unique and very innovative when they first released. But the combination of story telling, party building, and combat system still hasn't been topped for me. The games are something I always have ready to emulate at all times. Fingers crossed they decide to remake the rest of the Mana series. Legend of Mana needs some love even though I remember most people weren't really keen on building their own world.

The Tales series was probably the closest before the switched from 2D to 3D. The switch, I thought, took away a lot of what made them stand out from other jrpgs in the market.

My close 2nd is Legend of Dragoon since it actually changed the combat system in a really meaningful way. Legend of Legaia also did something similar but I thought the storytelling was better in Legend of Dragoon.

Soul Sacrifice still needs some love. It's only downfall was releasing on such a niche system like the Vita. It actually moves the MH formula forward in a really interesting manner by forcing you to make really interesting choices in the story.

  • Steam Deck is at sale: 10% to 20% off
  • The anti-glare is definitely worth it and it's also very noticeable outside. The other option is that you could just upgrade the screen from ifixit if you're also going to be upgrading your storage anyways.

All versions of the deck allow you to upgrade the SSD. There's actually a lot more vendors selling 2230 nvme drives now. I'd recommend staying away from SABRENT Rocket since their support is nonexistent and they also have a high failure rate. The Corsair MP600 mini and Micron 2400 is a better option.

  • What are your favorite games with unique and fun magic systems?
  • Soul Sacrifice had a system where you had to pick between 3 types of stats to build around which affects which spells you could use. After each mission you would have to pick between saving someone or sacrificing them which affects your stats.

If you chose power, you end up becoming a glass cannon with spells that drain your own hp
if you chose def, you end up with spells that supported you and the higher your hp the more damage you did. The trade off is your damage is mostly low.
if you chose neutral then you were pretty balanced.

All of these were affected also by the factions you were part of and which spells you have access to.

  • Recommended multiplayer FPS?
  • just gotta understand if u do get battlebit, itll only work until the next major patch when they implement faceit anti cheat

  • BattleBit Remastered is dominating Steam because there's no catch: it's just a lot of game for $15
  • It's only if they opt in and also only if you're ok with not being able to save or keep your progress.

  • BattleBit Remastered is dominating Steam because there's no catch: it's just a lot of game for $15
  • For anyone playing it on Steam Deck, the devs are going to be adding Face It Anti Cheat which is incompatible with linux devices. And for anyone who needs virtualization for work and other activities, Face It Anti Cheat forces you to turn it off from bios before playing the game.

  • Is a 7900xt worth it today?
  • I dunno wot else to say lol I have a 5800x3D with the 6800.

I think you mightve misread some stuff because they mention directly that even if you disable that feature through group policy it won't work.

"However, now it seems the company is taking this a bit further and is forcing driver updates for Nvidia and AMD graphics cards, even if you have this feature disabled via Group Policy Editor. "

"A Twitter account named @ghost_motely posted screenshots showing a Windows 11 machine's Group Policy Editor with driver updates disabled and a fresh Nvidia driver installed recently, seemingly ignoring this setting. "

I do know how to fix these problems myself. It's just a bad experience since Adrenaline refuses to even boot unless you reinstall the drivers yourself manually.

  • Steam Summer Sale 2023 starts next week. What games will go on sale?
  • There's 10 campaigns and each campaign has it's own unique events that will always occur alongside the random events. The random ones helps with replayability and it allows you to explore ways to create a specific character because it can drop extremely strong weapons or give you unique traits. A lot of the replayability comes from creating and building unique characters. Some events could technically hinder you but it gives you choices. There's also modding which could add longevity to the game.

  • Steam Summer Sale 2023 starts next week. What games will go on sale?
  • Co-op is fine for the most part. It's really simple, you can either drop into an existing game or create a new run with new characters or import characters from previous campaigns. It's a bit similar to For the King if you're familiar with it. The host keeps all the progress in their machine and no one else can access it unless the host is around.

The Maps, Events, and Relationships are all randomized so lot of the same events might pop up. They've added more events but you still see a lot of the same pop up every run. It's just one of those games where you can't take it too seriously because RNG can really screw around if you're trying to roleplay. We've had a few guys find a character they wanted to start a relationship with but cuz of RNG, the same two guys ended up married to each other which was pretty hilarious.

  • Is a 7900xt worth it today?
  • We had a lot of stutters in the main hub and throughout the missions with a lot of nasty screen tearing in DRG unfortunately. Not sure what's going on there since we both have pretty decent rigs. I'm hitting over 244fps on it consistently except for when the strange stuttering happens with vsync off.

There were reports that Group Policy didn't prevent Win 11 from overriding your drivers just last week.
    https://www.extremetech.com/computing/windows-10-and-11-are-ignoring-update-settings-and-installing-gpu-drivers
It's been a frustrating experience overall in regards to drivers.

  • What mobile games are keeping your attention these days? (Preferably iOS compatible)
  • The F2P stuff rarely if ever get me but some of the premium games are very nice. Teeny Titans, Rebuild, Dungeon Maker, Dungeon Princess, Dungeon Squad, Pocket City, and Monument Valley are all very good games, especially on mobile.

The only F2P game that is keeping my interest is Marvel Snap but the monetization is really pushing me off.

  • Is a 7900xt worth it today?
  • My friend updated to the 6800XT and told me the same thing but the moment I told him to boot up Deep Rock Galactic he immediately started to notice a lot of stuttering. Gunfire Reborn also had a lot of stuttering along with a few more games I play like Metro Exodus and No Man's Sky. V-Sync somehow fixes all the stuttering issues.

I've had other problems like Windows 11 overriding my GPU drivers which makes Adrenaline unusable until I reinstall the drivers. It's very annoying having to do this every time there's an update since I'd have to either reinstall Adrenaline or make sure I have the proper drivers hidden away somewhere so I can reinstall them.

  • Is a 7900xt worth it today?
  • honestly the a770 can play most AAA games at 1080p which is "good enough" for most people since the majority are still playing at that resolution. If anything the 3060 or the 6600xt are around the same price range for similar performance. If you do need good performance then I would think about the 6800 or the XT version especially when it drops down to $450 again.

AMD is also on the slower side of getting proper drivers ready so even on the 6800, especially in indie games, I'm getting a lot of strange stuttering even though I'm hitting over 100fps on most games at max settings.
