Shouldn't we be switching buses with light railway?
  • One problem with grassy lines is that when you need to temporarily use replacement buses (like in cases of issues with the electricity or maintenance, etc.) they can't drive on the lines and have to take the regular roads with the cars.
At the moment one tram line in my city has been interrupted for a few weeks and that's how I noticed that the grassy line was making things more complicated for the buses that are used instead.
I think that's one reason why most cities only put a few sections with grass.

  • I hear you about the squash...they're very prolific!

My sunflowers are also taking their sweet time for some reason, even though all my neighbours' are already flowering, as well as the ones in the fields nearby. But I have hope!

As far as I know, that's a record wind strength for Switzerland.

  • I'm a flexitarian myself and I wish more people would just do that, just realise that they're eating too much meat for their health anyway and cut it down to 2 or 3 times a week.

    This is getting ridiculous
  • Left to right : 'patio snack', 'marketmore' and I'm not sure for the zucchini.

There are only two people in this household, I don't know what we'll do apart from giving away a ton of veggies.

What the hell is going on with my tomatoes?
  • OP, what is your watering schedule, and do you mulch? This will probably be the larger cause of your blossom end rot. Yes, you can try and save as many untouched tomatoes immediately by adding a tomato specific fertiliser or calcium, but your real issue is probably watering.

  • Gardeners! How was your week?

Hello! How was your week and what progress did you see in your garden? What are you happy or unhappy with? Time to share your experiences!

Personally I've been fighting a nasty invasion in my brassicas that destroyed the daikons. At least the broccoli looks okay.

On the good news front, I've been blessed with delicious lettuces that keep coming back, my beans are thriving, I get a new courgette every other day and I've seen my first cucumber flowers. Here's hoping they give me many fruits!

Our month of June was very hot and dry, but fortunately a good rain helped us this week. Water management is a challenge though, and I'm a bit torn between my desire for a good harvest and my efforts to keep watering to a minimum to avoid waste.

It's really frustrating to see my community not sync up between instances. Am I doing it wrong?

For context, my community is a kbin magazine https://kbin.social/m/vegetablegardening

I posted something similar a couple of days ago and thought it was solved, since someone commented they could see my community on vemmy.net. But I've only been able to find my kbin magazine/community on vemmy and lemmy.one so far. I've tried lemmy.ml, lemmy.world, beehaw.org, feddit.uk, etc. but none of them work.

What gives? Do I have to wait for a user from each instance to search for my community? Am I doing the search terms wrong? I've tried : the actual URL, the name of the community, [email protected] , or even typing instancename/c/vegetablegardening but all it turns up are comments where I or others mention the community, not the community itself, or a "couldnt\_find\_community 404" error.

    Can anybody help?

The English town that regrets Brexit

"Brexit is a failure." Boston, small town of 70'000 inhabitants in northeastern England, has the highest proportion of people who voted out of the EU with 75% of votes for "leave". But Brexit left a bitter taste there and an important part of the population now regrets their choice.

Video source is Swiss French but nothing is dubbed and I thought this might interest some people here.

Gardening enthusiasts are welcome to join us on Vegetable Gardening!

I created this community/magazine for people who garden with a focus on growing food - vegetables, berries and the like. The goal is to share tips, pictures, experiences and become a good ressource for gardening knowledge as well as a good place to brag about the size of your tomatoes! If you're interested to join or just curious, visit us at kbin.social/m/VegetableGardening or @VegetableGardening

I'm looking forward to seeing all your beautiful gardens, plots, raised beds and buckets!

(The community doesn't necessarily appear on all Lemmy instances yet, but it works at least on Vlemmy.net or Lemmy.one.

Welcome fellow gardeners! What are your wishes for this magazine?

As we are starting this magazine/community from scratch, I'd like to hear if you have expectations or wishes for the direction of this sub. I'm open to all suggestions!

Personally I'm happy to just share our tips and experiences about gardening, and I hope we can build a good community and become a ressource for fellow hobbyists.

What do you all think? I'd love to hear from you.

Despite searching multiple times for my magazine on lemmy instances, I can't seem to find it. Am I missing something?

I created a magazine @VegetableGardening for my hobby and I'm trying to get the word out there. Unfortunately I can't seem to be able to "federate" it to Lemmy. I've tried searching with "all" enabled on lemmy.world and lemmy.ml, but all it does is show me my own comment mentionning the magazine on another federated magazine. Am I doing something wrong? I used the full url (kbin.social/m/VegetableGardening) but only my comment shows up. The first time I tried was this morning and now I still can't find it on Lemmy. Any help is appreciated.
