When they ask you how you are
  • No wonder he reposted. He's one of those older models, programmed by a central computer. Not us, we're independent thinkers.

  • SLAUGHTER AGE vs NATURAL LIFE SPAN
  • "Animals that people consume were killed as babies or toddlers, relative to their natural lifespan."

Well human life expectancy is 70 years, so:
    Cow - 17.5
    Sheep - 2.3
    Pig - 2.3
    Turkey - 1.2
    Duck - 5.3
    Chicken - 13.1

So that holds for most of the animals listed, but not cows or chickens.

Anyways, fact checking time. Quick googling^[Yeah, I don't have a robust source, but neither does the image.] says that the life expectancy of these animals is actually:

    Cow - 20
    Sheep - 12
    Pig - 12
    Turkey - 10
    Duck - 12
    Chicken - 7

So that would make the human-scaled ages be:
    Cow - 17.5
    Sheep - 3.9
    Pig - 2.9
    Turkey - 1.2
    Duck - 4.4
    Chicken - 15.0

Hope this helps anyone curious about the data.

  • Linguistics
  • No, snuffles005, that doesn't mean "yzax" is a valid word for Scrabble.

  • Oh, Bev. We may have fallen into the intellectual deep end here. And if you try to grab on to me, we'll both drown.
  • Your message could have been more efficient:

    • "who say" already implies people, so you could have said "those who say" to be less redundant.
    • "do so" is needlessly making a reference to exactly what you just said. Try "They say 'tuna fish' because".
    • "someone else" is redundant because the only person that's not "else" is the person in question, and they wouldn't have heard it from themselves.
    • "the kind of people to" is redundant because you already established that they're people. "the kind who" would be more efficient.
    • "blindy follow others" doesn't need to say "others" because it's obvious that they'd be following someone other than themselves.
    • "neither of those redundancies" is also a tad redundant, referring back to the established redundancies and then calling them redundancies again.

So a less redundant version of your message:

They say "tuna fish" because they heard someone say it, and are the kind who blindly follows rather than engage in critical inquiry and actively eliminate redundancy.

    Intelligent people say neither redundancy.

Of course, I'm just poking fun. I don't expect anyone to eliminate all redundancy from their speaking; some of it has use, especially in verbal communication. For example, saying "datil pepper" even though datil also refers to the pepper is useful because someone may not recognize that a datil is a pepper upon hearing it (though you'd be hard pressed to find that scenario with tuna outside of ESL.)

  • Anon chats with an elderly woman
  • I'm talking verbal replies, not head nods. I don't remember any head nods.

I would say there's a pretty big correlation there because friendliness is the quality of being willing to engage in conversations with people (even brief ones) and potentially make friends. If you're not even willing to reply to a simple greeting, that's understandable, and someone who does that may still be friendly in other contexts, but they're not friendly to strangers on the street, and that's what I'm referring to. I'm not trying to throw shade or anything; it's an understandable learned response. It's just that city life is a different culture than suburban/rural life, and different sorts of people are going to prefer each.

  • Anon chats with an elderly woman
  • I've walked down the streets of Philadelphia on a Sunday morning - much less crowded than public transportation - and said good morning to people I passed. Even then, only half of them even gave a greeting in turn. There may be more friends, clubs, and hobby groups available in cities, which is certainly a nice thing, but there's a loss in the friendliness of people on the street because there are so many of them. To each their own.

    Resolving the political memes argument

There have been quite a few comments and posts arguing about political memes and whether they belong here. I'm not exactly in any position of authority, but hopefully I can do something about this.

Which option do y'all think is best?

    1. People who want to post political memes do so in [email protected] instead.
    2. People who don't want to see political memes subscribe to [email protected] instead, which doesn't allow politics.
    3. Nothing changes.

I'm not asking for a rule to be made, I'm just asking for the general consensus. I'm hoping that this will help to raise awareness of those other communities, so that if people favor option 1, more political meme posters can move there, and if people favor option 2, more people who don't want politics can move there. And then I can also know whether to keep watching this community or move.

(Please don't downvote this post for complaining about political memes, because if it gets seen, it tells the complainers where they can go to avoid political memes, and then they'll be out of your hair.)

Howdy all! Some of my friends and I have been doing some planning for a Sonic themed platform fighter. We're still in the planning phase, because I want to make sure I can form a team before moving forward with development.

That said, if it interests you, why don't you come join our Discord server? We can discuss plans, and perhaps you could even join our team. We're particularly looking for people who can help make the animations. We have one guy for that already, but many hands make light work.

I'm planning on taking care of the programming, by the way. [! Click to join the Discord.](https://discord.gg/KzrpbxNa6)

    Sonic platform fighter fangame?

I was looking around to see if there were any good Sonic fangames in the platform fighter genre, a la Super Smash Bros. I found a few traditional fighters, but I much prefer the simpler controls of platform fighters.

Anyone know of any they can recommend? If not, I might look into making my own. Not sure yet.

    Doc is insane.

    Spoiler - Doc season 9 episode 54

When I saw he was playing with dragon eggs, I though he was going to do something simple, like make a contraption that repeatedly drops an egg to softlock Grian, so he'd have to get someone else to help him remove it.

But I guess things are never going to be so small-scale with Doc. I'm really looking forward to see how the others react.

Remember: Don't do this to your friends (unless they have a Grian skin,) and always have backup gear in case of an accident.

Welcome to the Pathfinder 1e community.

I saw there were already 2e communities, so I figured I might as well make this one too. Say hi while you're here.

If any mods from the Pathfinder_RPG subreddit wanna be mod here, just let me know. I will, of course, want to verify your identity via message on Reddit first.
