Honestly, good on you for taking accountability on it and editing it.
It’s the “time and place”, I feel— there’s loads of dank 9/11 memes online with (relatively) positive reception, but I think it just would’ve faired better in a community better suited for that kind of humor.
But regardless, as with any tragedy, the joke will still miss for many people. I mean, many of the families affected are still alive, and anyone older than 30 probably remembers when they heard the news.
I know it’s a bandaid fix for performance, but better upscaling solutions would be appreciated.
I don’t think there’s a separate build with Nvidia patches now (at least on the AUR), as they’re included/fixed upstream. Still plenty of config and environment variables to set on Nvidia. And the new Nvidia beta driver, 555, should fix flickering in xwayland windows that was caused by a lack of explicit sync support. It’s been working well for me so far!
Right up front two major issues with Linux:
No standard UI - it's different on every system
No standard tools - you can't rely on the same tools being on every machine
These seem like pretty fundamental traits, since Linux is only the kernel. I think a better way to compare other OSs to Linux would be comparing them to specific Linux distros, since those often do have standardized installs.
But there’s not really a great answer for which distro or distros should be used to represent the whole linux ecosystem… and that fragmentation has both pros and cons.
Like, I really love my Arch desktop, but it took lots of time to learn and configure. And it often breaks with updates— it’s not something most users would want. However, I get cutting-edge updates and features, and I have specialized my entire OS to best work for my workflows.
I currently use and love bluetuith! I hope you are able to secure funding and contributors, as this sounds like it could be a great development.
Got home, it’s working really well. Like, I’m super pleased!
VRR still needs testing on my system. I know that there’s yet to be a fix for multi-monitor VRR. I still need to test with a single monitor, though.
YOOO!!
I can’t wait to get home for this! I’m going to try to use VRR again too, see how it plays with that.
I worked at a place with vending machines, and we completely lacked any ownership of them. Money stolen and need a refund? Call the number on the posted machine. If you paid in cash, no luck. This seems like that to me.
I can’t speak to all systems or configurations, but my desktop is Arch-based with the Nvidia 535 driver (a few versions old, I’m still waiting for the explicit sync driver support), I run the game through Xwayland (no gamescope), and I’ve been using protonge 9-2 as the compat tool. The game runs really smooth in my experience, and on protonge 9-2 I don’t have issues switching windows/workspaces.
I do run the game in exclusive fullscreen— I recall the window having a single white pixel border in borderless fullscreen.
It’s a great game that respects player time and money, and since we’re on Lemmy (land of the FOSS folks) I’m also gonna throw it out there:
It works on Linux under Proton. 🎉
I heard a lot of people in the community calling for Spitz’ firing both during and after the situation. I’m getting mixed signals, since this article seems to describe Spitz as more of an ally to the community in the situation.
Same— my understanding is that there’s now no option to play without making one, which for some countries and territories is not even an option, making the game unplayable for them.
If you take a look at its reception, the community definitely treats it like a major departure from other live service game practices. I’d tend to agree— the price, micro transactions, content and quality all seem very fair compared to other live service games in the space.
How kind of them to remind us that a live-service game is still a live-service game, and that arrowhead is still owned by a for-profit corporation.
I still plan to play, though. Wasn't account linking already required for crossplay, or was that a separate thing?
Gonna give this a try! I’ve been jumping between clients on my Hyprland desktop… rn I can’t do global PTT on any third-party apps, despite Hyprland passing the input through to the app exclusively. I haven’t even looked at Vesktop, though!
Non-movie-related Sonic promo in 2024? I gotta get my ass to ihop 🏃💨
You told me Rule
My stylus broke. Here’s my “you told me so” to @aBundleOfFerrets, @huginn, @optissima, and the creator themself, @the16bitgamer.
You told me so! I’ll print it horizontally and report back o7
Lost my 3DS Stylus Rule
Also I made a new acc so I can use Voyager! Previously used @[email protected].
My main reason for moving to Lemmy/Kbin was to have 3rd party app support, and Beehaw ceasing Lemmy updates has now prevented that (for Voyager, at least). I still love Beehaw though, but the website is really bad on mobile.
Anyways I’ll comment a picture when this print finishes 🙏
