Stayed home from work with a migraine, heavily medicated, in bed. Had CNN on low volume as white noise trying to sleep. Worst migraine of my life...

I was recovering from major surgery, just home from the hospital. Husband was sleeping in the other room to give me some space. Woke up around 4am to what sounded like scritching noises in the walls. Was on major pain meds, chalked it up to hallucinations. Until about an hour later when a couple of bats were circling the bed and squeaking/chirping to each other (echolocation), flappy little bastards...
I'm not scared of spiders, snakes, rats, mice ... bats, I'm terrified (grew up on a farm, brother got bit by a bat sleeping in the hay loft and had the old-time rabies series using 10" needles in the stomach: gruesome doesn't cover it). Anyway, my husband says I have a bat scream (we get them with some frequency; these two were just the first). He knows even in a dead sleep to lunge for the tennis racket.
And my palms are sweating...
