Someone said to me once "if you really wanted to do X, you would have done it".
Your post reminded me of that, because many people might really want to be rich, but they don't become rich because it's a difficult thing to achieve. So maybe wanting something isn't enough. Maybe you need luck or other advantages on your side too.

Brexit makes no sense in a world dominated by Trump. Britain’s place is back in the EU
From defence to trade, the incoming US president is upending the old order – and standing apart from our neighbours leaves us dangerously exposed, says Guardian columnist Jonathan Freedland

I don't think age makes people conservative, I think power makes people conservative. If you accumulate wealth and power then you may become conservative in order to protect your wealth from taxes.

Personally I would like to be able to talk to people with different views, in a civil manner. But Lemmy.ml doesn't seem to want that. If you post something that they don't like (even if it's a very moderate view and is expressed in a completely civil way) then they ban you. They seem to really hate moderate people.
Former German chancellor’s book tells how she tried to help David Cameron win over Britain’s Eurosceptics
Do you agree with Merkel that Brexit was a "humiliation" for the EU?
I'm not sure if I would use that word, but I wonder what other people think.
