  • I used to have a coworker that dressed like this. Always a perfectly matching suit, shirt, tie, pocket square, socks and shoes combo. He had suits in every color imaginable. Always made me happy.

  • What audiobooks are you currently listening
  • I’m listening to The Nursing Home Murder by Ngaio Marsh. I’m switching back and forth between mysteries and sci-fi at the moment.

Chirp was having a sale so I thought I would give this one a try. A lot of reviews comparing Marsh to Agatha Christie so I thought it was worth trying. Seems pretty good so far and I have no clue yet who the murderer might be.

  • How do you guys usually get your audiobooks?
  • I tried using Libby for a while but my library system doesn’t have most of what I’m looking for. I tried Scrib’d and didn’t really like that either. I’ve also used Kobo but the pricing with Audible is better for me especially since they added the Plus catalog.

I also checkout Chirp periodically since they have sales all the time.

  • Have you ever stopped listening to an audiobook because the tone of the narrator was so annoying?
  • I actually returned a book because I couldn’t stand the narrator. Then I listened to her narrate some other books and came to really enjoy her. And I ended up re-purchasing the book I had returned.

For me, if I have a problem with the narrator, I increase the speed to 1.2ish and that usually helps a lot.

  • Favourite narrators?
  • George Guidall is my all time favorite. Ralph Cosham had a wonderful voice and I really miss him as a narrator. I also love Nathaniel Parker’s voice and listen to books I otherwise wouldn’t just to hear him.

  • What are you listening to now, and how?
  • I just finished The Fold. I’m not sure if I liked it or not. It started strong and then just went off the rails a bit. I don’t really like long drawn out fight sequences in books, movies , etc. and then it just ended without much resolution. Maybe the ending was to setup more books?

    Project Hail Mary

As a 50+ year old woman with little to no interest in Science Fiction, I would always just roll my eyes when I would come across yet another Reddit post about this book. And then, I broke down and got the audiobook since it was on sale. And, wow, I was soooo wrong. I really enjoyed it and my eyes were “leaking” so much at the ending. So I thought I would become one of those people and say if you haven’t listened yet, then you REALLY should. The narrator was outstanding and I think that helped me get through some of the more “technical” parts that might have stopped me if I was “reading” and not “listening”.
