  • So much work at work. Good thing they're paying me for it.

  • Ministry of Justice workers call researcher a 'bitch' in online conversation
  • Idiots badmouthing someone who clearly knows how to file an OIA on a platform subject to OIA requests.

That said I've had the displeasure of dealing with fishing expedition OIAs and ones where the question is nearly impossible to answer because the person asking either expressed it poorly or deeply misunderstands the thing they're asking about.

  • Yeah should be warmer and drier

  • Thanks for the warning. Luckily my passport is good for several years yet. It's gonna be weird going from early spring to early autumn though.

  • Bought my tickets to go visit my family in September. Spending that much always freaks me out even though I know I can afford it

  • WFH problems

  • Alcohol causing 20 times the harm of meth, police float tighter regulation
  • Not that I love meth but I suspect if people could buy it in shops and bars the costs would be equivalently high.

  • ACT leader David Seymour brushes off claims party has a 'culture of fear'
  • This won't make me dislike ACT more but that's only because I'm already at max dislike.

  • Trump falsely claims he didn’t call to lock up Hillary Clinton | CNN Politics
  • I'm thinking it doesn't matter what we think, it matters which one could accrue expensive court costs. Because "false claim" is specific and provable, "lied" is murky and general. When it comes to libel and slander lawsuits, the legal system runs on semantics and pedantry.

Why should they open themselves to that kind of legal system enabled retribution? After all, we all know whose pants are on fire.

  • Stealing everything you’ve ever typed or viewed on your own Windows PC is now possible with two lines of code — inside the Copilot+ Recall disaster.
  • I don't know, if I was IT decision-making and I worked for a company I didn't particularly like I might install this for the executive stratosphere and hope for subpoenas.

  • I made it to my latest covid booster without catching covid, hooray!

In related news my arm hurts.

  • Happy birthday! Lemmy.nz turns 1!
  • Yes thank you for running this instance. It's nice to have a place to pop into.

  • Trump supporters try to doxx jurors and post violent threats after his conviction
  • They're a little late, the conviction has happened. If they wanted to interfere with the outcome of the trial they should have done that before the verdict. Silly treasonous fascists.

  • Israel sharpens its tone to Spain: "The Inquisition is over. Those who harm us, we will harm them"
  • Not saying they're right, just I think that's what was being referenced.

  • Israel sharpens its tone to Spain: "The Inquisition is over. Those who harm us, we will harm them"
  • I think they might be remembering that time Spain evicted all the Jews?

  • I don't know about guilt but I can confirm their work did not leave with them.

  • Work is a little surreal today. I'm at one of the ministries and today is the last day of pretty much everyone who took voluntary redundancy. The farewell morning teas are sequentially occupying the kitchen areas.

  • Putin starts tactical nuke drills near Ukraine
  • If he nukes Ukraine he's not going to be able to use it

  • Self-Driving Tesla Nearly Hits Oncoming Train, Raises New Concern On Car's Safety
  • Guess it gained self awareness and realised it was a tesla

Looks like the CCP supports National. Hm.

i.stuff.co.nz National Party donation from CCP-linked newspaper publisher 'by the book'

Christopher Luxon and Gerry Brownlee say the $18,000 donation has no sway over the party’s policy on China, but a senior MP says he wouldn't have accepted it.

www.stuff.co.nz RNZ reporter had been editing stories for several years without being queried

RNZ digital reporter Michael Hall says nobody "told me that I was doing anything wrong".

He's claiming > "I subbed several stories that way over the past number of years," journalist Michael Hall told Checkpoint.

    > "In fact since I started RNZ and … I have done that for five years and nobody has tapped me on the shoulder and told me that I was doing anything wrong."

I took an introductory journalism class years ago. It wasn't even Journalism 101 it was like the precursor to that and literally the first thing we went into was bias.

This guy absolutely knew what he was doing.

Suggestion: Creation of a NZ politics community to sit beside the regionally based ones

With the election looming and the various other things going on it might be good to have a place for this?
