Just a spacefaring raccoon that's eaten all the food onboard. Sorry.
The Fifth Element.
Thanks so much! You're truly awesome.
Additional option to make the comment button open comments section
As it stands, there doesn't seem to be an option to make the button for comments open the comments section on posts. It goes directly to leaving a comment.
There's a bunch of options that you can change that button (button 1, etc) in the settings to, including removing it altogether. I click the comment button every time, then I remember that I have to click the body of the post to see comments (resulting in backing out and extra clicks). I can't seem to get my muscle memory right on that - probably partially because I bounce back to Jerboa, where you do click the comment button to go to the comments.
As for visually, I like the button icon and comment count, so I think that's perfect - I would just love for there to be a setting to change the action from leaving a comment to go to comments section. Maybe "view comments" and "leave comment" in the settings to differentiate.
Pretty please? ā¤ļø
Plex or Jellyfin might be what you're after.

Mississippi Bones. For fans of Clutch. Plus, I love a good concept album. I don't personally mind that the flow of the music is interrupted by fun broadcasts, but this is the only album they have like that. So if you like the sound, but not the radio parts, check out any of their other albums.
I've read somewhere along the way that this is a Lemmy issue, not an app issue. I believe it's being addressed by the devs.
Just finished listening to the album a couple minutes ago. It's worth checking out. I feel it leans more progressive and groove in spots, but still felt like it was at home here.

Progessive groove metal with a fretless bass. Figured it deserved a cross-post here. Definitely worth a listen.

There's always someone that gets joy from ruining things for others.
What's weird to me is I saw the edit (with the link) on this account, my main account on lemmy.world, when you first posted it, since I clearly followed the link to try it out. I don't know if all the DDoS stuff messed something up or the admins had to restore from an old backup or something, but that edit with the link isn't reflecting anymore on my lemmy.world account or my alt at lemm.ee.
Okay, this is actually slightly concerning. I can see the update on my alt (lemm.ee) that has the link the body of the post - your edit. It was there likely right after you made the edit, as I checked it out, etc. But on my main account (lemmy.world), I had to come to the comments here to find the link again. Being that this post is now 2 days old, it's a little off-putting that the updates aren't reflected yet. I know lemmy.world has been down a lot lately, but as someone that updates/edits their comments and posts pretty frequently for one reason or another, I don't like that the edits I make may or may not be reflected, even literally days later.
My PC specs have plateaued as of late, but we're both in this picture. š
Downloads one instance's communities (and some other settings) to a JSON, then you can upload from that JSON to a new instance. I'm not sure there's anything that quite caters to what you're looking for yet.
I have an alt for my main account. I just link back to my main account from there. I mainly use it when my main instance goes down. Likewise, I link my main account to an older account I had originally that I migrated from (all same username). That way, even if my new/alt looks really new, if someone cared enough, they could follow the trail backward to other older accounts.
LASIM works great. Used it to migrate my main account to an alt for when my main instance inevitably goes down.
I loved Textra. It's not their fault, but I really love RCS support, and right now that's basically Google Messages and a handful of preinstalled carrier messenger apps (if I'm not mistaken). I loved adding a 3 second delay on sending texts - I always seem to see typos as/after I hit send. š
Gotcha. My mistake. It looks like mine went through without a hitch with the June 1 update.
What I'm seeing online is to look up Play Services in the Play Store and see if there's an update and then try again. The other thing involves clearing the cache for Play Services and restart the phone, then retry - but apparently that means you could lose stuff like transit cards, COVID card, and payment info saved in Google Pay, so that's definitely not ideal.
I don't disagree. It's just my home instance and I know it allows it, so I didn't want to send OP somewhere random and have them not allow it either.
I'm on a Pixel 6, and my last security update seems to be July 5. There's actually another new security update that's applying now. I'll report back if it doesn't go. Never had one fail though. š«¤
What actually happened here? Aside from the shifter deciding it wanted to take a nap.
Lemmy.ml removed the ability to create communities to (I believe) encourage using other instances. You can create a community on other instances still - like lemmy.world, for example.
You ever smell the droplets in the air after someone else sneezes? You now know what theirs smell like.
The Lost Skeleton Of Cadavra (2001)
A "B-movie-on-purpose" film, parodying the sci-fi movies of the '50s. It's surprisingly good.

Weird feed issue when setting Frontpage as default
As the title says, I've set Frontpage as default. Now, whenever I load into the app, this is what my feed does. Note the hintInstance=null stuff at the top as well. If I click Frontpage from the left panel, it'll refresh normally and populate. I've tried setting any other as default, and the result is the same. Any ideas? Or is this something that's already being looked at?

Cause N Effect - Validation Through Suffering (Belgium, 2023)
Solid melodic tech death that came out of nowhere when it dropped earlier this year. It blew me away on the first listen. One of my favorite albums this year.

Rotting Obscene - Depths Of Decay (USA-VA, 2016)
Brutal tech death out of Roanoke, VA. Unfortunately, the band fizzled out around 2019, but I don't have the backstory - the most I heard was that they definitely weren't getting back together.
Favorite/recommended track: Cataclysmic Advent

Mythica: The Iron Crown (2016)
Mythica is a five-part fantasy film series that was made by Arrowstorm and funded through crowdfunding (Kickstarter). The Iron Crown is the fourth film in the series and, in my opinion, the high point. It has brief appearances by Kevin Sorbo throughout the series (back when that might have been more of a positive point), as well as a few other recognizable faces (Kristian Nairn and Matt Mercer, for example). If you like B or C-tier fantasy films, you might give this series a go - keeping in mind that the first film, specifically, is more rough around the edges.

Turbo Kid (2015)
There's not really much to say about this one. If it's not considered a cult classic yet, it will be. So much heart. So much cheese. So much fun. It's a callback to the '80s/'90s, and "Mad Max on a BMX" just doesn't do it enough justice. Personally, I really love this movie.

For their 5th birthday, FarmBurguesa is offering a cheeseburger with waffle fries for $5, today only (7/22), at both locations.
And it's over.
The Gene Generation (2007)
A biopunk/cyberpunk film starring Bai Ling. The CGI looked dated when it released in 2007 (think Ultraviolet with Milla Jovovich), so it looks all that much worse today, nearly 15 years later. Other than that, I feel it's an enjoyable Saturday afternoon sci-fi film if you set your brain to simmer.

Big Ass Spider (2013)
As far as B movies go, I feel like this falls into the B+ category. It doesn't try to be anything more than it is, which is a fun and goofy movie.
