This is being overly simplistic IMO. Lemmy is not a direct copy paste of reddit, just the idea is the same.

But he's not wrong on a practical level, the content is almost the same on reddit and here, even the memes are being reposted from there to here and then reposted over and over.
To me, seeing the same content multiple times on the All feed makes it seem emptier, like I can just check it once a day and I won't be missing anything. I blame the accounts that post content on multiple instances/communities instead of posting once and letting it federate and the reposters who just recycle content over and over... maybe those who keep blindly upvoting too.

A normal user doesn't have any incentive to leave reddit if they are going to find the same things.

Yeeeeah no, as I said on another comment, creating a new instance requires some kind of investment, might be monetary, learn a new skillset or dedicating time to keeping it up, it's not something anyone can do/afford and as time goes on, it might escalate if you plan to preserve everything.
A new community... maybe, but then you're gonna have to go instance jumping until you find one that fits you and it might be quick or you might never find one.

But some features don't make sense or seem half-assed, like blocking instances at user level, it should also block every user from that instance, but for some weird reason it doesn't, you don't see the post from that instance, but posts on other instances made by those users and comments from users of that instance are still visible... So we are still forced into instance jumping until we find one that aligns with what we deem acceptable... And that could take a while.

Or the fact that Lemmy users talk a lot about privacy but the delete function doesn't really delete the content as it can be easily restored at any moment.

I just use Image Glass as image viewer and Icarus for the miniatures. For the videos I use MPC-HC.

What economy? You mean how we are drowning in more debt than before? Or how investors are leaving or being reluctant due to the last reform shitting on the judicial power? Or the money laundering projects that are still going from the last president? Or how workers are leaving formal jobs to actually make enough money to live? Or how the president had to come out and swear that mass deportations won't hurt the remittances because those are the only thing keeping people afloat?

My problem with eating it is the lack of actual recipes or know-how, almost every tutorial says to make oil or butter but I don't really like the idea of heating them twice (one to mix with the weed, a second time to cook). Cannabic milk is a decent alternative, baking is expensive (at least where I'm from), same for candies.

Sometimes I just add it to my food before reheating in the microwave and it works, but I know it isn't ideal.

There's also vaping... But it's fucking expensive over here, also making more trash with the batteries (even if can be recharged) and the induction heated ones are extremely expensive... Like... No.

My bong might not be the healthiest option with all the smoke, but for now it's the middle ground for me until marketing allows cheaper alternatives

I'm on lemmy.cafe for now... so far so good, but I'm always up to jumping ship if I have to, I usually delete my content once per week so I have nothing to lose anyway (I'm still icky about Lemmy not permanently deleting someone's content and just hidding it).

Speaking from a third-world country, there are 2 main weaknesses the fediverse has for us:

• selfhosting is not easy or cheap for us, so we can only use what it's already there... And it's basically all in english, so most people are out.
• meta has everyone grabbed by the balls and people are happy like that (for some reason), anything new or different is met with endless excuses.

There used to be a mexican instance called Mujico, but they were forced to use a whitelist by constant troll attacks... But they also federated with grad so I can't feel bad about it. I don't know if it still exists but the last time I checked it had zero activity.

I'm so happy I switched to an instance that blocks grad, ml and hex, I can't imagine the shitshow it should be for those that still want to tolerate at least hex.

You think people go around understanding and learning, trying to be better or to prevent others from suffering the same fate... but you are wrong, most humans are resentful assholes, who only care about themselves and are happy with all the astrosurfing and the chance to be assholes to others, I suffered because of X, so you have to suffer through Y while I laugh at you.

The same thing happened here in México, the puppet's campaign was empty, just promising to keep doing what the expresident told her to... and that was enough to win, nobody cared for anything else, just the promise to bribe the lowest class and force the rest into lowering their life quality.

I've been saying this for a while, but they abuse that decent people try to be tolerant of them, not to make them angry or insult them, trying to be the reasonable ones... if we keep this way they are going to keep going with nobody standing up to them.
