Google kills two-year “Pixel Pass” subscription after just 22 months
  • I used to be all in with Google. After being burned over and over again, I’ve nearly entirely exited their ecosystem with some exceptions. I just don’t trust them anymore to maintain their products for the long haul.

  • 3D printing has become really accessible over the past few years. Many affordable entry level printers come with automatic bed leveling and direct drive extruders, which previously only came on more expensive printers. IMO, it sounds like your use case is perfect for 3D Printing. There’s a variety of great entry level printers you can pickup right now for fairly cheap. I don’t have experience with them myself, but the Elegoo Neptune 3 or 4 seem to be well regarded for their price point. As far as getting started, Thomas Sanladerer has a great intro to 3DP that can get your started on the concepts. It’s not hard to pickup. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDJMid0lOOYnkcFhz6rfQ6Uj8x7meNJJx

  • iPhone 14 Pro users complain of major drops in battery health and capacity after less than a year
  • 14 Pro Max at 88%. I’ve never had battery health degrade this quickly on previous iPhones, and I’ve had every iPhone since the 6. I don’t recall percentages on my XS and earlier, but I know that my 11 Pro Max was at 99% when I got my 12 Pro Max, and it was at 98% when I got my 13 Pro Max. My 13 Pro Max was at 93%, when I got my 14 Pro Max, and the only thing that’s been different in terms of my charging behaviors is that I’ve used MagSafe charging much more. Maybe the heat wireless charging creates is worse on batteries, but I’ve read others using MagSafe not have this problem, so I really don’t know unless Apple has tweaked the way they report battery health.

    EDIT: Now I’m at 86%. It’s dropped 2% in a little over 2 weeks.

  • Here we go again
  • Yeah, but there are ways other browsers have determined how to have in-built ad blocking. I’m not sure of the ins and outs, but Brave, Samsung Browser, and Edge all have built-in ad blocking on iOS.

  • Here we go again
  • I’d use it exclusively, but there’s no Ad Blocker for it on iOS, and I don’t want to run an ad blocking VPN all the time. I also don’t like how there’s no official PWA support on desktop.

  • I love my new Q Revo
  • The mapping is what truly astounded me. I couldn’t believe how quick it was. Although I do think iRobot’s Room divider feature is a bit easier to use. I had to get creative with splitting rooms due to some idiosyncrasies of the Roborock app.

  • User Feedback
  • Loving the app so far. One enhancement I would love to see is when searching for communities, display next to each search result a face up count of the number of subscribers so that I don’t have to open the community up first to see that info.

I would also like to see an option to hide my username in the top bar.

  • How Does Not Having Faith Effect Your Life
  • I know what you mean. I saved this blessing off years ago. I don’t remember where I got it, otherwise I’d attribute it to its author. It’s a great way to share that moment of reflection that prayer can provide without the actual religious aspect.

A Secular Grace For what we are about to receive let us be truly thankful …to those who planted the crops …to those who cultivated the fields …to those who gathered the harvest. For what we are about to receive let us be truly thankful to those who prepared it and those who served it. In this festivity let us remember too those who have no festivity those who cannot share this plenty those whose lives are more affected than our own by war, oppression and exploitation those who are hungry, sick and cold In sharing in this meal let us be truly thankful for the good things we have for the warm hospitality
    and for this good company

  • How Does Not Having Faith Effect Your Life
  • The biggest thing I’ve noticed is not having a large community to feel a part of. Those I know who are active in church communities tend to have a more active social life. I have close friends for sure, but I do miss that sense of greater community and cause.

The only other thing I feel acutely is the sense of being all on my own and the decider of my own destiny. There’s no leaning on faith as a crutch during tough times.

  • Does 2FA not work with Memmy? When trying to log in the screen advances past my username and password after entering it, but then I receive a pop-up error saying I have to enter my token with no place to actually enter it, and I’m just returned back to the join or login screen.

EDIT: Seems to be working now and I’m receiving the token field.

  • I’ve always thought of Rigid as being the TTI prosumer brand and Milwaukee being more contractor-level, though their M12 line kinda bumps into the homeowner target market now where for most uses 12V gets the job done. Either way, both definitely have their places. Ryobi is great for homeowners who need the tool but won’t use it often enough to justify the price of the Milwaukee durability.
