What is a technology/gadget you refuse to use and why?
  • That issue sounds to be with under gauge electrical wiring. We run an air fryer frequently in my home with no issue. It does pull a bit of electricity in the short time we use it, but it’s much better than using an electric oven to cook 20 chicken nuggies.

  • At what battery health do you think it’s time to change/swap?
  • I don’t remember where, but I remember reading that 80% was the threshold that you should replace. At 85%, I think you are being proactive in replacing if you like your phone and it’s still working well for you. I would do it.

  • What is this thing? Flashing red light with a button in my car. I pressed the button and the red light stopped blinking. [SOLVED]
  • Yes, it absolutely could have a tracking device in it. This could also be part of an alarm system or ignition interlock..but if you’ve been driving it without hitting the button, that doesn’t make sense. I would have a mechanic run the wires to see where they lead and remove it. It’s not factory

  • Who Makes Billions Paving America's Roads?
  • Haven’t watched the video nor am I a professional in this area. I also feel that heavy vehicles should be more responsible for road maintenance but I’m not sure how to actively tax them appropriately for the area in which their vehicles impact. For instance, tractor trailers. If there is a more favorable state that taxes these businesses less, more trucking companies will “relocate” there while the states they may impact more frequently see none of the tax revenue. I think this is why a lot of states depend on fuel tax. This brings in EV’s (which are extremely heavy as well) that use our roads but aren’t taxed appropriately for the usage and maintenance of the infrastructure. How do we tax these vehicles appropriately for the like/same mileage if there ICE vehicle counterparts. It seems unfair to tax one car that drives 10k/year as you would another that drives 50k/year.

  • Ubiquiti Pausing the Early Access Hardware Program
  • I know this is old, but I’m frustrated with the lack of information they provide about some of their products they EA’d in the past that look promising and have disappeared. I would like to know what they are abandoning and what they are improving. I would love to add their doorbell and door lock to my home and business, but have no clue of the timeline to be able to integrate them and may have to move on to another suite of devices. I just would like to know if it’s worth waiting to buy or not. Rant over.

  • What are your thoughts on Instagram Threads?
  • I’m not excited for it because when (enter any large corporation) enters a space like this, they are not doing so through altruism. They want to dominate and profit. They have resources to bury their competitors and have shown eagerness to do so (points at everything). They are looking to slowly grab a monopoly of traffic and try to onboard more people to their platform with false promises. Plain and simple, I don’t trust them.

  • Apple plans to launch a monitor that stays on when you shut down your Mac
  • Does it have a webcam? It’s Mac so probably. Do they not see an issue here or is this a bug and not a feature? Sure they will do their best to protect it, but how many 0 days do we have to see before we realize that software isn’t the best security.
