  • Language requirements absolutely make sense for citizenship. But we shouldn't give high earning professionals a reason to leave and stop paying taxes here. If someone is able to work in English and make a ton of money here, we should absolutely encourage that. Our budget needs more people like that. The security of permanent residency makes it far more likely that they will stay.

    What is the effective difference between using intransitive verbs and passive voice?

    We just covered transitiivi vs intransitiivi in my Finnish class this week.

    Is there much of a difference of meaning between using a transitive verb in passive voice compared to using an intransitive verb? It seems to be mostly the same in my foreigner's mind.

  • From what I have heard what needs to be addressed is more about working conditions than funding. Tons of nurses are working on short term contracts. If we could actually give them stable jobs that might make a bigger difference than increasing their pay further.
