Trump Promises 'Very Large Faucet' Will Funnel Water from Oregon to Los Angeles
  • Goes double for whether or not he's serious. The number of times I've heard something and have had a legitimately hard time telling if he's joking, or exaggerating, or just a complete fucking moron is absolutely crazy. Pretty much every sentence he utters becomes this endless game of trying to figure it out. It seems like his base just kind of randomly picks the option that makes the most sense to them and rolls with it.

  • Letters to the Editor: Your 'protest vote' for Jill Stein is really a vote for Donald Trump
  • It really does suck. The current voting system not only discourages anything other than a two party system, it basically guarantees it. And then it becomes one of those things where why the hell would one of those two parties, who's perpetually in charge, ever vote to change a system that would allow for another party (or parties) to come into power? It's just gonna be a slog to ever get it fully changed to something like ranked choice. But I'd absolutely love to be proven wrong.

  • There’s no vast conspiracy to prosecute Biden critics. Crimes are just illegal.
  • You say that but the "what about ism" I have heard from friends and family regarding pretty much any allegation of a GOP politician is absolutely bonkers. I don't know how many times I have to say that I don't care what jersey you wear, you should get punished for doing illegal shit. But it honestly just doesn't matter.

We've reached the point where people think absolutely everything is just picking sides. If you want something bad for one side, it's only because you are in the other's pocket. It's just exhausting.

  • Poll suggests GOP effort to smear Tim Walz didn’t work at all
  • The other argument I saw against him was he admitted when he made a mistake one time. I just remember it cause that struck me as so strange. Like... Yeah that's awesome. Admitting you were wrong and trying to fix your mistake is a pretty damn good quality. It would be so annoying if he thought he knew everything about everything and never ever admitted he was wrong about anything even when he- oooooh it makes sense now.

  • Elon Musk has the worst ‘both sides’ take on latest Trump assassination attempt
  • I mean maybe I'm a bit off the wall here but is it possible that - and I'm just spitballing here - but isn't it possible that being an absolutely insufferable, repugnant, lying, manipulative, egotistical, repulsive, persistent, whining, cry baby asshole that has an almost impressive penchant for pissing off virtually every one, every single second of every single day, on top of being a disagreeable politician could potentially make you a more likely target than just being a disagreeable politician? Idk maybe I'm crazy.

  • No, actually Trump WON the debate. Because he lied about pets getting eaten. Masterful strategy.
  • I feel like it's the ultimate catch all. Absolutely anything is directionally correct. Flat earth? I mean the earth has a shape and there are plenty of flat shapes so it's directionally correct. Bigfoot? Easy. There are plenty of animals with very large feet. Directionally correct. Hatians eating dogs? Hatians eat animals with four legs and there are both hatians and animals with 4 legs in the United States. Directionally correct. Checkmate Kambala!

  • I know I'm a moron but isn't this just purely visual? Like wouldn't this be the same as doing it on the ground? Still looks really cool regardless but as far as degree of difficulty isn't this just pretty much as hard as doing it anywhere else? I know this is extraordinarily difficult stuff anyways and it's still impressive, I just don't really get the point of the train other than just kinda looking neat cause of the frame of reference.

  • Almost 1 in 4 millennials and Gen Z-ers say they won't have kids due to finances
  • I was shopping for daycare trying to kinda get a financial picture of how we could swing it not too long ago and the cheapest daycare I could find came out to about twice my mortgage lol. So I guess I either hit the lottery so I don't have to use daycare or I just don't have kids

  • [USA] Presidential Debate Mega Thread
  • Careful dude. The small intestine is weak and dumb. But that large one? It's sneaky. Just been biding it's time until it strikes. You open that window and you might not be able to close it.

  • TIL: Millennials have 300% more student debt than their parents
  • I had a huge scholarship of about 70% that I was incredibly proud of. I STILL came out with debt about 670% more than my father without any assistance at all. And that's adjusted for inflation too! I'm ancient now so the price I paid is way cheaper than the poor bastards now. It's insanity.

  • Gender roles are important or not?
  • Some of them are actually smart and brilliant people and you can have excellent discussions with them. Others are just promoting some political agenda, and others are deep in their personal crisis and you can only listen to their hurt

Lol this applies to virtually every single possible subset of people current and past in some form.

  • Jesus what a burn
  • This was my first thought to lol. It's so shocking to me that people honestly don't think there's already some form of government agency or organization that monitors and evaluates fiscal budgetary spending and legitimacy. And then not only that, is actually applauding the creation of a new one headed by some billionaire that just happened to throw the president an ass ton of money like 48 hours ago lol.

I guess I really shouldn't be surprised anymore but whatever.

Why isn't Lemmy searchable on a search engine?

Why don't Lemmy posts (from any instance) show up on search engines? Like if I try my hardest to get a thread to show up, virtually nothing from the actual instances in the fediverse comes up. I'm sure if I searched the exact url or something I could get it but it's very noticable that the search engines by and large just kind of gloss over posts on here and I'm not sure why.

This stinks cause that was one of the biggest draws for reddit. So many times when you search some super obscure or specific question you'd get a few reddit threads with all sorts of information.
