George Takei's Based Voting Take [Rule}
  • Yay, the Democrats saw a way to get votes and pretended to care. Fuck all the way off with that bullshit. Spend half a century fucking over LGBT people, pander for 20 years, profit.

"They're better than the fascists they've worked hand in hand with for years" is a pretty weak endorsement.

  • George Takei's Based Voting Take [Rule}
  • And what two groups have colluded to make that true?

  • I'm not the one explaining away my support of my side's bigots by saying they're less bigot than the other bigots. But go off.

  • Go look up Biden's long and storied history of voting against LGBT rights and then tell me how he's okay now because something something excuses.

  • George is okay with supporting homophobes and bigots as long as they're his homophobes and bigots.

  • Correction, the collusion between Dems and Republicans makes third party candidacy an impossibility.

  • And who, exactly, has worked together to ensure that there are only two bad choices ever available come election day?

The Democratic party works with the party they (rightly) call fascist to keep out competition to thier duopolistic rule, even excusing thier own incredibly bigoted recent past.

Cooperating with the friends of fascism is not a vibe.

  • I find it interesting that these companies are taking something that was once normal... loading your choice of software onto your thousand plus dollar computer... and pretending that its something new and evil.

I'd prefer honesty. They want cash and this undermines thier platform near-monopolies.

  • The service doesn't cover most healthcare so you're still stuck with One Medical's bills, which (if reviews on Trustpilot are correct) tend to be higher than traditional medical. They still bill to your insurance if you have it.

  • Amazon's Doctor Will See You: What to Know About One Medical
  • I was curious so I looked up reviews of One Medical. Almost universally, people note that they charge well more than average for services, fail to meet thier appointment wait time promises, limit access to doctors, and have terrible customer service that fails to respond timely and often fails to respond at all.

$99 seems to be a lot of money to pay to be ignored.

Google Pixel Warranty Support - Objectively Terrible

While this is obviously an anecdotal account, my experience with #Google support has been nothing short of terrible.

I have a faulty Pixel 7 Pro, purchased less than 90 days ago. I went through all the troubleshooting steps including resetting with the online tool, issue persisted. So... thinking that I had a slam dunk, I contacted Google support.

After confirming with Google that the issue was 100% hardware related, I thought we would be good. But alas, no... they wanted more logs. So, I provided logs. The logs showed exactly what we expected (broken hardware) so again... I thought we were good.

Nope! "We can replace this if you mail to us and wait up to two weeks for a replacement.

After pushing, they suggested that they could do an advance swap if I provided a receipt for the purchase with an IMEI.

I did so. We... we should of been good now, right?

    Nnnnnope.

"Sorry, this email address isn't the one we first recognized. We know you provided a receipt and proof of identity and a blood sample and CCTV recordings of your purchasing the phone, but uh... can you use that address we know you closed like... two months ago?"

So I read the warranty and that does not appear to be a requirement. Right now, I'm awaiting their response re their warranty, because honestly it feels like their customer service (if one should even call it that) it designed to make sure that people with legitimate claims get frustrated enough to replace versus seek repair.

I hope this is just a one-off and the majority of people don't have these experiences but... somehow, I doubt it.

    Maker Friendly Etsy Alternative?

I've not had much luck with this, so... here goes nothing! I love supporting independent creators, but using Etsy leaves a bad taste in my mouth. They're full of drop-shippers, they ruin makers by closing accounts without warning... you know, all of those nasty things.

Are there other options out there aside from hunting for makers' personal sites? Any help would be appreciated, as I've not had much luck finding an alternative

E2EE Cloud Alternatives - Your Experiences

    Good morning, afternoon, or evening!

Periodically, I review my services to determine whether I'm getting the best balance of features for what I pay. For remote file sync I've been using Tresorit for quite some time... I find it easy to manage and I love that I can sync all of the things. Problem is... they keep changing the plans. I've manage to finagle discounts for long-term use, but I expect that my efforts will eventually fail.

So... what providers do you use? How have your experiences been? I'm willing to consider other providers, as long as they:

    • Have a solid track record (I use this for work type stuff and I don't want to find myself scrambling to reconnect to an offsite provider later)

    • Have E2EE (I mean, should be a given.)

    • Can sync individual folders and disparate locations

    • Preferably, are not hosted in a privacy-backward location.

Can you help? Or is poor Melpomene stuck paying for Tresorit forevermore?
