All too often I come off as argumentative, I'm working on it but definitely a work in progress. Also frequently more pedantic than I'm comfortable with.

Newly obtained video shows driver after deadly Goodyear cycling crash
  • @dankm @veganpizza69 such tech is becoming mandatory, this is a good thing.

  • Elon Musk haters vandalized dozens of Tesla Cybertrucks by spray painting "F**K ELON" on dozens of them
  • @Gorilladrums21 They weren't delivered yet, they are Tesla property.

Protests are only effective if they are disruptive.

  • @return2ozma Older Tesla's one can give the owner the benefit of the doubt that they purchased it before Elon showed his true colours. No Cybertruck owner has that defence.

They are lucky it's just paint.

I'm sure paint comes off 'stainless' steel real easy....

  • Another massive rail tunnel is slated for Melbourne, including a new underground station at Marvel Stadium
  • @Baku metro 2 isn't as important as metro 1, but the extra capacity for Mernda will be amazing.

  • Another massive rail tunnel is slated for Melbourne, including a new underground station at Marvel Stadium
  • @Baku "Notably, this new tunnel will also include direct transport to Marvel Stadium, with a brand-new underground station at the site. So getting home post-concert or footy should be easier without having to fight for your life on a packed tram."

Southern Cross would like to point out it's proximity to the stadium. It already takes most of the spectators, but another set of platforms will be welcome.

  • Nuclear power explained in 12 numbers to help you understand how it fits Australia’s energy needs
  • @BadlyDrawnRhino @MHLoppy Yeah, investing in nuclear is okay, but only in addition to adequately funding the faster to market options.

But as we apparently don't have the money do invest in enough cheaper and faster options we clearly don't have the money for nuclear.

And governments shouldn't be subsidising distractions.

  • @zik @Psiczar they apparently think we'll forget how many times they've canned the idea when in power. It is just a convenient lie.

  • Looking for advice on turning a mountain bike into a cargo bike
  • @FartsWithAnAccent @JacobCoffinWrites A generally good point to remember is the manufacturers load limit. Exceeding that is probably okay, but remember you have started to enter "hear be dragons territory".

Many regular bikes have a 150kg load limit, w1hich isn't too hard to exceed with a few panniers and a full sized rider (heck, it isn't that hard to exceed with a backpack and a large rider).

Trailers help get around load limit a bit, but when going that way remember the brakes!

  • The NYTimes is once again trashing the most promising mobility innovation of the 21st century
  • @figstick @Tak you probably need a density of more than 1 person per square km. That is where most people live. It is great for most people. Maybe even nearly everyone.

But for the last 0.1% something else is needed.

But even then it might be better to have personal rail vehicles on private tracks (the same tracks the farm should be using for it's produce.

  • The NYTimes is once again trashing the most promising mobility innovation of the 21st century
  • @Tak Or build stations and tracks where so few people will use them.

Building more tracks for everything would be good, but still not an answer for everything.

A world where we only had trains and push bikes would be nice, but not likely to happen.

  • @Tak @FireRetardant Yes, when a bus route will result in a larger vehicle with 1 occupant they are bad.

That is a very small % of passenger mileage.

@fuck\_cars Something I wish Australia would change is laws prohibiting any vehicles between a 200W ebike and a full motorcycle. I'd get a lot of value from a 60kmph limited 1kW ebike. But currently to sell such a thing it would have to comply with all motorcycle requirements, and things like ABS on both wheels is really not required for such a device.a \#AusPol #eBikes
