Turns out there is a channel with some infos, just leaving it here in case someone else reads this as well
Ink/Stitch Channel with ca. 7k subscribers https://invidious.protokolla.fi/channel/UCJCDCFuT_xQoI55e10HRiRw
hmm that's an idea, we could try an inkstitch thread here first maybe? lemmy isn't that big, so splintering it too much too early might not be ideal.
I actually have embroideryware (windows, seems unmaintained now, horrible GUI but pricewise doable), that and brother canvas workspace for my cm900 are the only two things I run wine/Bottles for still.
I'm hoping to get rid of both with Inkscape (ink/stitch and inkcut, haven't looked too much at the latter yet, I'll try stitch first).
Do you happen to know of any tutorials for absolute inkscape noobs?
Just starting my journey with it. We'll see how it goes :-)
thanks, I will check this out.
edit: okay that tutorial in the open issue helped a bit. I did already have the inkstitch-3.0.1-linux.sh but entering the flatpak cmd and have the script already copied to the extensions folder worked. Thanks a bunch!
thanks I will check this out.
edit:just extracting the tar.xz to the extensions folder and restarting inkscape-flatpak didn´t work. It was the correct folder, I tested it by installing another extension via the inkscape extensions dialog, and that popped up right there. However using the installer script from within the flatpak-cmd worked. Thanks for your help though!
How do I install inkstitch extension in inkscape-flatpak?
I'm running Inkscape as flatpak on Kubuntu 24.04 and I wanted to install.the Ink/Stitch extension, but somehow this doesn't seem to work like it did on the apt/ppa version. I've tried the script install from inkstitch, and I've tried to manually copy the contents of the tar.xz to the extensions subfolder in home/.var/<inkscape> and restarting inkscape, but no luck so far. I was hoping someone here could give me some helpful tips to try? thanks!
Maybe the gpoddersync-nextcloud app is more your thing? You can use that with all podcastapps that support gpodder sync. Works with Antennapod on Android and Kasts on KDE/Kubuntu.
Isn't diaspora like that? They have a somewhat facebook-like interface and rely on 'aspects' to define how public or private something is. It is listed on the fediverse map, though it doesn't use activitypub but a different protocol.
Yes it's a fediverse platform mainly focused on sharing pictures.

fyi, not a bad try, you got about 2/3 of the word. Rechtsextremismus would be the correct spelling.

I would advise to try with a thicker top-stitch needle, since metallic threads are thicker and stiffer. The 75 is very thin, you might have to try 90 or more if your fabric allows (or test on other fabric first). The top-stitch needles have a wider eye so the thread can glide through better (topstitching is often done with thicker decorative thread). Also make sure that the thread unwinds without snagging ot curling. And go fairly slow.
Idk about the other comments, I was responding to your initial request for the bonding material when making patches. I'm EU based, in AUS you'll probably have different brands for the same goal. Have you checked sewing supplies webshops (or rather machine embroidery webshops)? Not all of them have this adhesive, but if they have a wide variety of different kinds of machine embroidery stabilisers then there's a chance they will have rhis as well. Here's an example https://hswoz.com.au/product-category/backings-toppings/iron-on-backings/
What kind of needle are you using? On what fabric, and what's on the bobbin?
Gunold Sulky BSN is the kind of stuff you're looking for. Madeira might have a similar product as well.
