No Man's Sky is enjoying its 'biggest month in the last few years', coinciding with the launch of Starfield
  • Tbh, No Mans Sky and Starfield have little in common except being space games. Starfield isn't a space exploration / space sim game. It's an RPG set in space. Starfield has more of a storyline and characters then No Man's Sky, they're different games for different people

  • www.businessinsider.com George Santos says he's lost 97 pounds on Ozempic and a cage match versus Mitt Romney wouldn't be 'fair' because he studied jiu-jitsu

Embattled GOP Congressman George Santos bragged about his weight loss and said he'd beat up Mitt Romney in a fight, Page Six reported.

  • I believe Super Mario Wonder has Mario voiced by a new actor, and I don't think it's Chris Pratt

  • What the hell is this horror show shit that keeps showing up in Pocket?
  • It would be if there wasn't a very simple way to completely disable pocket

  • World chess federation bars transgender women from competing in women's events
  • And the CEO is Emil Sutovsky, who recently made a twitter poll, basically asking, let's be honest, does anyone actually care to watch this women's tournament? When he never made a similar poll for any other tournament.
The chess world really needs to outgrow the sexist and transphobic FIDE

  • As Twitter destroys its brand by renaming itself X, Mastodon user numbers are again soaring | TechCrunch
  • If it's active users increased I'd be surprised, but if it's not I wouldn't be, most people probably don't delete accounts when they stop using them

  • How to Move Your Instagram Feed to Pixelfed, the Photo App That Doesn't Track Your Every Move
  • There have been testflights (Apple betas) for the pixelfed app, so it's in development. Unsure about the quality of 3rd party apps though

  • How to Move Your Instagram Feed to Pixelfed, the Photo App That Doesn't Track Your Every Move
  • Yeah, like pretty much all platforms on the fediverse, they're not owned by large companies, and don't try ads or selling user data for profit

  • Kids' Cartoon From Conservative University Claims That Slavery Was 'No Big Deal'
  • These videos are approved to be shown to children in Florida.

I am honestly scared for the next generation of children who believe that slavery wasn't that bad, and whatever other bullshit Prageru preaches

  • BBC Launches A Mastodon Instance
  • This morning I looked at the trending tab of my instance, and was pretty confused when #bbc was the first result. Glad that curiosity got the best of me though

  • BBC Launches A Mastodon Instance
  • Honestly, this is really good to hear! More mainstream accounts will definitely get the fediverse a bit more credibility.

And here's a bit more from BBC:

The team at BBC Research & Development are researching social technologies and exploring possibilities for the BBC. One part of our work is to establish a BBC presence in the Fediverse.

This is an experiment - we will run it for 6 months, and then look at how much value it has provided, how much work it requires to maintain and then decide whether and how to continue. We're learning as we go, and we'll write about what we discover in the hope that it might be useful for others. The BBC will continue its normal social media activity in the usual places.

We're starting off small with just a handful of accounts from R&D and our colleagues at BBC Radio, but we hope to be adding more accounts from other areas of the BBC soon:

  • Residents Flood Library With New Copies of LGBTQ Books Stolen by Anti-Pride Protestors
  • If that was the only place you could get pride books? Sure

But I can only assume that there are other pride books around the library, and I think having a designated pride section is good for those who want it.

  • Is there anything that can be done about troll powermods?
  • Agreed, if somebody is spam downvoting comments (Which is honestly quite the pathetic act), then people should be able to see that, and block/report them

  • Reddit’s 2023 r/Place turned into a battleground for dunking on the CEO
  • Reddit realized that they don't even have to try to hide the messaging. Their audience will stay, and think that they're making a difference by saying Fuck Spez everywhere

  • 7 billion is a lot rule
  • "average person kills 1 cops in their life" factoid actualy just statistical error. average person kills 0 cops per year. Cops dais, who lives in cave & killed 7 billione, is an outlier adn should not have been counted

  • Can't believe this has to be said
  • That didn't happen.
And if it did, it wasn't that bad.
And if it was, that's not a big deal.
And if it is, that's not my fault.
And if it was, I didn't mean it.
And if I did, you deserved it.

  • How familiar were you with the Fediverse before coming here?

Before the whole Reddit migration I was passively aware of the Fediverse, I thought I somewhat grasped the concept, and had created a Mastodon account, but never really used it. But once the migration started, I decided to try out Kbin, and really liked it, and even started to use Mastodon more often.
