insidious Clutter
  • Clothes are probably my biggest challenge. I hate clothes shopping and tend to use two different strategies:

If I find something I like, buy several more of the same type (i.e. several pairs of pants in the same color). When this works well, I'm set for a couple years on a reliable staple. More often than not, it seems like random variations in construction or differences in how each piece shrinks or ages ends up in me not liking the duplicates as much as the original, and I end up with clothes that I don't wear.

Lately I've been relying more on thrifting or buying used online, but the selection for male clothing seems to pale in company's female, so it can be a challenge to find decent options. My success rate in finding used clothes i like is lower than new, but with used clothes i can turn around and sell them myself without taking much of a loss.

I think my dream is to have my own personal "Steve Jobs"-esque staple style, and just wear the same thing every day, but personally I've found that goal to be impossible!

I manage the insidious growth aspect by strictly limiting the amount of clothing I let myself own, and selling/donating clothes when I need to buy more.

  • Your favorite 3D-printed things for the shop?
  • Dust hose adapter - why didn't I think of that!?!

That'll be going on my "to print" list :)

  • Friedman: Jonathan Drouin to Colorado

Friedman: Not sure of the number here....but it sounds like a six-year deal for Miles Wood with the Avalanche

Denver's had more precipitation than Seattle, Dallas, and Washington D.C. this year
  • I know deep down that Seattle weather would kill my soul, but I've been loving this spring and I don't want it to end! High of 68 and chance of rain is my jam!

  • Which event are Denverites most looking forward to?
  • I heard that with enough mushrooms, it's possible to get so deep into Black Bart's cave that it can take as much as 6 hours to find your way back out

  • Bring back the foot...and Howler!
  • I'd love to see the team go total redesign rather than dig up pieces of the past. When the Kraken unveiled their logo/uniforms I loved how they used the little bits of red accent as a "pop" contrast against the rest of the colors and I think it looks great on the ice. I was meh on this last year's Avs reverse retros design, but I LOVED how the yellow circle and bright red C of the main crest absolutely POPPED when they wore those kits on the ice. The burgundy and blue Avs colors just don't contrast each other enough, especially on TV, and the result is just kind of muddy blah.

If I was in charge of the Avs kits, I would choose a cooler (icy?) blue as the primary color and utilize some sort of intensely contrasting accent color. If Howler and a Yeti foot can fit into the new scheme then have at it!
