Well, Porygon is a digital pokemon, isn't it? If I'm remebering right, it's made of code. So Porygons would likely be more widely available near silicon Valley-like metropolitan areas than any natural biome. To be an invasive species, it would need to be available in those places and out compete native pokemon for resources, and I don't see how an artificial pokemon made of code could do that in most biome, it'd be a non-native or introduced species at most.
I am just now realising pokemon sleep is real. I legit tought it was made up as a joke, I can't believe it.
I had to leave Jerboa as well (at least until they fix the crashing on launch) and I'm liking Thunder (available on fdroid and github they have a iOS version for the interested) with connect as second favourite (available on the playstore, not sure about iOS)
Thunder has one annoyance, they don't really have a profile tab, so you can't see saved posts on the app. And connect's post writing sometime glitches on me.
I have a secondary at lemm.ee, but i don't think i want to keep it after this. I'm definitely looking into dbzer0. Thanks for the suggestion.
I only have tiny stuff, really (some I'm not even sure if the name), but I'll sort them out and post some.
Hey, thanks for linking the magazine, I was looking for something like that here.
But then they should be happy we wanted to stay close right? How is a big dead sub better than a private one new people wouldn't even know it exists? Forcing r/piracy open was a very weird decision, I still don't get it.
On top pf being the spcial media I interacted the most, Reddit also used to be my default idle scrolling app, whenever I had time to kill and a phone with Internet on my hand or when I felt like multitasking watching TV. I stopped using it for the blackout and I never really went back.
I snooped a bit through r/modcoord and r/save3rpartyapps to see how thing were going when someone mentioned them a couple of days ago and from there I went on the linked subs to see their alternative protests and vote on the subs I subscribe to, but that's it.
I still miss some subs, but I haven't felt the need to visit them yet, so even if I cave in, I'm no longer a daily user, just a once-twice a month one with a ton of ad blocks.
That looks amazing. I never had the chance to use Apollo cause I'm an android user, in looking forward to it.
You can search for them, the search function will show all the communities in your instance and the federated instances.
What do you use? Mobile or app? I can't tell you how to search on mlem, but on browser on the sidebar from your instance, there'll be a magnifier glass icon. Once you click it, you can search a topic by all, or a specific instance. If you're just on Jerboa, on top of your communities tab, there's a search bar, just write what you want there, and it'll give all the matching results from every source available to you.
I find the process momuch more efficient on the browser, I have to say, it gives you a lot more info.
I'm on beehaw and they're great, the team is truly worried with the community and maintaining a non toxic place. They defederated with lemmy.world because of it, and they upset a few people, so keep that in mind (I just have a second account to stay around with the chill comunnitymies in .world)
I also didn't gey any message letting me know I got in, so just try to log in after a few days and see if it goes through.
Omg, thank you, you're my favourite user here <3
For sure, I had, great experiences on world so far, I think they're just worried about the possible future, perhaps.
Thanks! I'll join those as well with an alt account and hopefully we'll be able to grow them.
Not yet. That's one thing I'll miss from reddit until they pick up here, that's for sure. Let me know if you find anything!
Yeah, the defedeation thing, I really like Beehaw, and I ended up making a lemmy.world account too, so I'll just end up using both of them at the same time :V
Oh, you definetly don't, I haven't found the courage to post anything yet lol, but you'll find me eventually, cause I really loved your profile so I'll be following you once I have some time to sit down and focus a bit on mastodon again. Thanks for the tips I won't give up on mastodon and try them out
I think we'll get along fine, I do embroidery in general, and I'm trying to drag myself back into sewing and crochet, it's been a few years with those
It is! And I do want to figure out mastodon, if anything, for their Crafting/art community, but I'm having a bit of a hard time figuring ou if/how can I go around visiting other instances I know its possible somehow because users from different ones show up for me, but mastodon is the one in struggling with. It's not like lemmy or kbin where I can see stuff, they prompt meto make ne an account before I can see anything and I just don't know how to find the people in the other instances from mine yet. :(
Oh, that makes sense then! mastodon, much like twitter is still a big mystery to me.
Yeah, I only got an actual link to kbin during the blackout here on lemmy, it was surprising to hear they got so many people so fast. It's nice they did, i just don't remember seeing anything about them on the alternatives subreddit or anywhere else.
I think it can be initially, because it sounds confusing, but I personally feel fairly confident after poking around consistently after a couple of days, that was the amount of time it took for me with reddit all those years ago as well, I believe. Once you figure out how to get to other federations and look up things there, things just run nicely, as long as you're into the old reddit/old internet forums look. Honestly, I found figuring out cross federations in mastodon is way harder, and they're doing it.
But I don't think it will be on the long run to most people once they acclimatise. I'm using both Jerboa and the browser and when I search for new communities to join or look up what's going on on All neither feels like a confusing alien experience. The only part of it that feels weird about it is that after so many years, I very rarely had a need or a desire to use reddit's all, so feels a bit odd.
In my experience lemmy was the most suggested alternative on reddit and then tildes, the only time i ever heard abou kbin was the day before the blackout with the subreddit ban and then during it.
