What's Your Favorite Style of Dog?
  • Veggie dog, but so many styles! Coney or chili dogs with a stripe of whatever my mustard preference of the week is. A Chicago dog is drool-worthy. Sometimes a simple dog with some chopped onion, ketchup and mustard is perfect! Bonus points if we're grilling and throw the buns on for a minute to get them toasty and a bit smoky!

  • What's Your Favorite Style of Dog?
  • My husband and I like Morningstar for taste, and I also enjoy the jumbo Smart Dogs (smart dogs need pierced before fire roasting or direct grilling). Husbo doesn't like smart dogs as much.

My husband really enjoys the impossible and beyond brats.

Fwiw, my husbo is a meat eater and I've been veg for 26 years. He's eating more plant-based meat alternatives due to some wicked stomach issues he was diagnosed with two years ago.

  • Indy installed no-turn-on-red signs at downtown intersections. Are drivers obeying them?
  • It's working better, but not perfect. Most drivers I encounter downtown follow the signs. Crosswalks are safer because those turning right are at a stop waiting for their green instead of pulling up a bit into the crosswalk to look left for oncoming traffic. Some of the right turns downtown aren't always easy rights due to parked cars or other items semi-blocking the line of sight. I have one office at the CCB and one on the circle, and I feel like these signs have definitely improved some of the traffic concerns around that area.

  • I have encountered some negativity on Lemmy recently, so I just wanted to start a laid back thread to see what are people's plans for the week-end
  • It's finally a weekend with no set plans, so I'm going to work on some art, change my oil, and maybe we'll have a fire since the weather is going to be nice. So a weekend with no plans turns into catching up on me time and getting to things I've put off for too long 🙃

  • I'm stuck researching things instead of actually doing anything
  • There are a few different apps and websites out that will find recipes based on ingredients you enter in. It's useful for ingredients you already have in the fridge or pantry, but you can also put in some ingredients you're familiar with -- even if you have to go get them (like ingredients you know you've seen before or that you've maybe purchased in the past).

This doesn't help with going down the recipe rabbit hole, but it might help give you some new ideas with familiar ingredients ❤️

  • VW Is Putting Buttons Back in Cars Because People Complained Enough
  • I have a '22 Crosstrek and most options are buttons with a large screen I use with Android Auto. I would hate HVAC and heated seats integrates into the screen because I love mine being buttons, switches, and dials. Plus, I can control most of the screen features from my steering wheel.

  • Responding to damaged keyboard tickets titled "URGENT!!!!1!!":
  • I would be so frustrated if someone somehow manually entered a P1 for a keyboard and it wasn't changed immediately. Like your case, it would get escalated. Yes, a functioning keyboard is important to that user, but the priority level and urgency are tied to the organization. Nothing like the call or email saying a huge chunk of your org or end users are effectively down, only to find out Chad couldn't type an email.

Hopefully that person was talked to and somehow disciplined. Your other comments sound like they really should have known better.

  • What bugs the heck out of you at work but doesn't seem to bother your coworkers?
  • I'm not in the office frequently, but when I am, my supervisor and I just plan on getting absolutely no work done. It is soooo loud. We have cubicles and frequent teams meetings, and all that we can hear is everyone else's conversations.

Neither of us can concentrate with the constant noise interruption.

  • What are your favorite meals?
  • A really big salad with my fave veggies, spicy chikn (I normally just use Boca spicy patties and cube them), sunflower seeds, sliced almonds, other nuts I may have in the cupboard. Cliche for us, I know 😅

I also love my spicy sw pasta salad I make with a creamy black bean/Adobo Chipotle sauce. I'll make a huge batch of it and eat off it for a week!

And, my staple favorite: chickpea salad. 🤤

  • They pestered me to let them outside only to do this
  • One of my dogs who does this finds the sunniest spots in the dirt, flops over, and I swear she just turns off.

She's a small bulldog mix, so I am duper careful with her in the heat, but also can't deny her a little sun nap.

Sometimes I just want to go out and take a sunny dirt nap with her 😅
