Remember when this was the holy grail of nerf?
  • Hey, I'd be happy to have one nowadays!

  • Homemade MOLLE Panel from scrap. Garbage In, Greatness Out!

(reposting in response to further Reddit nonsense)

Some years back, my boss asked me to design and print a whole bunch of spacer panels for a machine we were developing. I got to it, made a part that balanced size with material usage, printed them like he asked, and... we found out we didn't actually need them. I didn't want to toss them because they looked like they'd be useful for something... but what the flippin' hell am I supposed to do with a few dozen spacer thingies?

I found an answer about a week ago. My Jangular-ish belt loadout is fun, but could use some better mounting to the belt (part of it was literally lashed together with macrame cord and chopsticks). I thought maybe a MOLLE panel would help, but I didn't want to buy more war toys and they always come in threatening military colors.

"Is there anything I already have that I could use? It doesn't need to be fancy, just a panel with holes I can tie stuff to... kinda like those old spacers!"

A handful of screws later, and here we are! Still lashing things together with macrame cord, but that's because I'm a weirdo who's opposed to buying anything I feel I don't have to. A little janky, sure, but it's good enough to hold some mags and even has room for the EMT pouch.

    I made a Spring Thunder
  • Everything Herbert said, plus my own two cents:

For better or worse, I tend to angle the blasters across the whole frame. I guess I'm trying to get it as large as I can unless I'm trying to stage something differently.

  • Doorknob Catch?
  • That was my guess, too. Too bulky, too heavy, too much stuff for too little gain.

All that said, I'd get a good giggle if someone actually tried it.

  • Bow Blasters: pluckin' for the whole family!

With the success of my H2O Eh-Row, I found out it works pretty well on Kiddo 01's little bow. That makes four bow-like blasters, which I just thought was neat!

    • The Eh-Row 01 has more experiments waiting for hardware, but seems to work good!
    • Eh-Row 02 needs more firm mounting, but you could fight with it as is!
    • The old Bow 'n' Arrow needs new arms again, maybe from aluminum bar to keep from snapping.
    • The Flipside might be able to take a spring upgrade, but it already works better than you may think! I want to stickerbomb the blank back side, thought.
    • Nothing for Grandma, but I don't think she'd deign to shoot anyone in the first place. But... what if...?

Connecting Tubes: How does one do it?

Suppose you have a long distance you need to fill between the front of a plunger tube and the back of a barrel. Like, you're making a Kenner 95 Crossbow to the original configuration with the barrel on top. Sure, that's a lot of dead space, but you're gonna try it anyway.

...how would you actually do that, anyway? What kind of tubing? What kind of material? How big?

basic marker rebarrels, thats all lol
  • To borrow from a poet: if stuffing markers into Nerf blasters is wrong, I will face God and walk backwards into Hell

ETA: but seriously, I like how you can still see the colors from the front

  • Brassed Rebelle Sneak Attacker: the Jolt-like so nice, I did it twice!

Kiddo 02 looked like they wanted a Sneak Attacker like 01 had, so I got another. And after fixing a mix-up with the air restrictor, they both got some brass for extra speed and custom dart racks.

While they were really intended for basic blasting needs, they also work well with the ol' Double Deuce Action, i.e. tie a cord to the plunger rings, loop it over the back of your neck, and dual-wield with ease.

[thrift] Good things come to those who regularly check kijiji
  • That is a wonderful heap of old school cool right there

  • Honey, I think I broke the Jolt
  • Okay, I think I got it. Because the stupid thing spins around when you try drilling from the front, I had to drill through the plunger tube. Thought I was going to shoot through the back of the barrel for a minute.

Now not only does it work, but it kinda takes off now. I don't own a chronograph, so I just go by the Whoa Test, i.e. I shoot it and go "whoa, that looks fast!"

  • H2O Eh-Row: Large smoothbore barrel for launching... whatevs
  • I reposted over on Nerfhaven after Reddit went dark. Long story short: I got a water blaster from Five Below, drilled off the tip, and found it makes a good no-fuss HAMP with modular barrels.

Then I found out I could strap it to the side of my longbow as a cheap replica Airow Gun. Not as good as the real deal, but good enough for me. An "eh-row," if you will.

THEN I found out today that it has some much oomph behind it, I can just use a large pipe and tissue paper wadding to shoot almost anything that fits, and here we are.

  • H2O Eh-Row: Large smoothbore barrel for launching... whatevs

So, did you know that with a $5 water blaster, some facial tissue, and 3/4 PVC plumbing parts, you can shoot almost any damn thing you please?

I'm not sure entirely what I would use this for, but I'm tickled that I can launch smaller darts like this. Or flower seeds. Or maybe confetti? I dunno, I'll get back to you on that!

Hello Nerfing world in another world!
  • I thought I'd try posting my little bow blaster over on Nerfhaven to stoke interest, but then I found out it's not accepting new members. So yeah, it's basically a necropolis, mighty but dead.

  • Visual representation of trying to move nerf
  • I should've known to store everything in multiple bins and/or forums

  • Honey, I think I broke the Jolt
  • I don't think there's any debris. A little bit of air restrictor I can't quite get out, but it's shoved out of the way just by putting a dart in. I added some silicone grease for good measure, so it's all lubed up. And the sealing ring is stock, which worked fine before.

  • Honey, I think I broke the Jolt

I was hoping for a better inaugural Discuss post, but...

So, I got a Rebelle Jolt clone for Kiddo 02 because 01 liked theirs so much. So I thought I'd do the usual stuff like drilling out the air restrictor.

Except this time around, performance has gone way down. Barely flops out of the barrel. I thought I'd try replacing it with some brass (17/32 I think? I should really write this down), but it's even worse now. I'm thinking of drilling out enough space for a Crayola barrel, but I'm kind of afraid I'm just butchering it at this point.

Please advise, and thanks in advance.
