'Megalopolis' is a piece of s—t
  • Is it a beautiful abstract mess in the same vein as The Tree of Life by Terrence Malik, or Under the Skin by Jonathan Glazer? Because if it is, I think I'll skip it. To each his/her/their own!

  • Is it ethical to place a birdbath next to my berry patch with the intent of letting my cats get there predatory instincts out?
  • This is impossible to guarantee or control for. Birds migrate, you never know who might make a pitstop at your feeder. I've spotted birds that were so far off their normal range it created a buzz in the local birding community. There's a non-zero chance something endangered or at least very rare could stop by your feeder.

If you're worried about making sure your cat gets enough stimulation there are a lot of articles and tips on things you can do that require little effort on your part (like, even a cardboard box full of crumpled paper can do the job).

  • Campaigners tie baby slings to statues in call for better UK paternity leave
  • I live in a country where parental leave doesn't discriminate between mothers and fathers (or one parent or another if it's a same sex couple). Parental leave can be up to two years BUT it's split into 75% for one parent, 25% for the other. I have yet to meet a man who has taken even a fraction of that 25% (aside from the paternal leave right after the baby is born, which is separate and covers a few weeks). This isn't to say it's an issue with men, but more an issue of a society that dissuades men from taking more than the bare minimum of parental leave, where women are still expected to take one the main caregiver role for children, and where men generally earn more than women. Until these issues are fixed and men are highly encouraged to take parental leave, just making that time available (even if a necessary first step) won't be enough.

    Edit: got my percentages wrong

  • i'm 40 years old and just had ALL my teeth extracted in one go. The pain is excruciating. Any tips for pain relief?
  • Yeah Combogesic is an example of combined ibuprofen and acetaminophen. Advil also makes a combo of the two as well. The main issue to keep track of what you're taking and take care that you don't exceed the daily dose for each. That's something to watch out for whether you take them separately or in combination with one another.

  • Where have you been told this? Are you perhaps confusing acetaminophen for something else? Doctors will tell you that you can take ibuprofen and acetaminophen (paracetamol) together . It's advised you wait an hour after you take one type before you take the other to see if the first medication works well enough. There are even medications sold as a combination of both. What you shouldn't take ibuprofen along with other Non-steroidal anti-i inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like aspirin.

  • Drag performance resembling Last Supper at Olympic opening ceremony rankles conservatives
  • Once again, that is not what whataboutism is, the crux of the argument hasn't changed. You claim to be just as offended by other parodies of the last supper. Yet when presented with evidence of others parodying that specific image, even high profile examples, you've shown no indication that this has offended you just as much as it does when drag queens are featured. I even gave you multiple chances to pick any christian religious image you want and still nothing comes up. Either parodies of Christian art offend you just as much or they don't, and if you single one out, the reason becomes very obvious.

I would be more surprised to see Donald Trump in heaven compared to one of those drag performers in all honesty

This just indicates that you'd still be surprised to see one of these drag queens in heaven, just not as surprised as you would seeing Donald Trump. And really? Donald Trump? A bar that low?

  • Drag performance resembling Last Supper at Olympic opening ceremony rankles conservatives
  • Yet it's religious parody all the same, something that allegedly bothers you regardless of whether those involved are LGBTQIA+. I've yet to see an evidence to support your argument. Still no response to my original question. It's not a problem when other major groups do it? No global uproar when it's done countless times by high profile series like South Park, the Simpsons, Family Guy, Curb your Enthusiasm, IASIP? Not an issue when the hard right appropriates your religion for political gain? Barely a peep when the subjects are anything other than obviously part of the LGBTQIA,+ community. At this point you should just own your bigotry instead of wasting people's time.

  • Drag performance resembling Last Supper at Olympic opening ceremony rankles conservatives
  • So, no other examples of you taking issue with parodies of christian art on Lemmy or elsewhere, correct? You've had plenty of time since I posted those links to tell each of the OPs how you feel about their depictions of the last supper. Why not go ahead and do that now?

  • Drag performance resembling Last Supper at Olympic opening ceremony rankles conservatives
  • That's not how whataboutism works. You claim parodies of the last supper offend you, that it has nothing to do with drag queens. It should be easy to provide examples of that given the painting has been parodied dozens, if not hundreds, of times. There are even plenty of examples on the fediverse with a cursory search:

You're notably absent in the comments. Heck, at this point, any Christian religious image should do.
