Special counsel asks judge to keep Trump from disclosing evidence in classified documents case
  • While it's entertaining to consider how this might play out, in reality I don't expect anything to come of it. Sure the judge might issue an order. Obviously Trump will violate it (flagrantly and repeatedly). And nothing will come of it.

Remember when Alex Jones was caught lying on the stand? He flat out lied, and the attorney called him on it (based on the fact that he'd received a copy of Alex's emails). And the consequence for lying under oath? Bupkis.

While there's a perception that "judges don't put up with x" and "the one thing you never want to do in court is y," the reality is that this doesn't seem to result in consequences, at least for high profile cases where we could all see it.

  • Who could have predicted that a Republican would trash a long-held belief of his party (government shouldn't be in the business of picking winners and losers) in order to directly benefit a friend of his?

While this isn't exactly new behavior, they used to at least exhibit a modicum of discretion. Now they just let it all hang out for the world to see. And why shouldn't they? It's not like there's going to be any consequences.
