kill
  • At some point I decided to quit climbing. I realized I had too many thing I wanted to do and become good at, and not enough time to dedicate to them all. And climbing had become this thing where every time I stopped for a while, it kept getting harder to get back to the same level I was before stopping. So I stopped completely.

  • Quite honestly, yes he did. As a young teenager, I started climbing because of Spider-Man. And climbing became my meditation and therapy for a while. I had lots of fun climbing, and I miss it dearly.

  • Every time someone asks me the make and model, I give a puzzled look
  • Bro, you sound like a delight to be around. Judging people for what they drive is pretty shitty. Unfortunately, lots of people don’t have much of a choice. Like, sure, buying that early any Chrysler 300 seems like a real bad idea. But maybe the person who bought it got it for the $15 that it’s worth, and maybe it was all they had to their name. And maybe they needed just any car that can get them to their job or transport their kids. Get off your high horse there.

  • USA does offer a substantially better quality of life compared to many other places>

Lol no. It “offers” the mirage of a better quality of life. That’s like saying that gambling is a job that will invariably improve your economic position. The chances of immigrants actually improving their life by moving to the U.S. aren’t that good. I mean, most of the countries that people move from at least have socialized healthcare.

  • A friend of mine is a teacher. Some psycho kid decided to bring to school a realistic fake gun, pulled it out, and while my friend was looking away, he pointed it at her head. He then says her name, and when my friend turns around to see him, he goes “bang.” My friend was traumatized, and is still in psychotherapy a year and a half later. The school didn’t take the matter seriously, and everyone goes “well at least it wasn’t a real gun lol.” And “get over it, it wasn’t real.” But that’s not the point. This is a place where nothing like that should ever happen, and knowing the daily occurrences at schools in the U.S. of course this will all have a big weight on it all. But it was easier not to do anything about it. It was the perfect opportunity to nip it in the bud and make a good example… but no. The school and school district left my friend high and dry. My friend pretending to be okay until she wasn’t.

Several months later, a cool kid did the finger guns to her. Not meaning to be a dick at all, btw. But this made my friend break down.

All this to say, you never know the motivations behind something like this. Guns are a real problem in the states, and very few are taking it with the seriousness it deserves. And I think what this principal did was the right thing. Don’t fuck around with that shit.

  • "but they sting/bite/are toxic/are icky" blah blah. nature does not owe you safety
  • Yeah… well the also eat my peaches and plums. So they eat my food, and that just ain’t cool. On top of that they set up shop by my front door and then sting me for just walking into MY house where I was letting them make a little room of their own. Not no more. Them bitchass mfers are back in hell where they belong, and my world is much better since I opened that portal for them.
