"Both sides do it, both sides to it," is the mantra of the willfully stupid mainstream press, pretending against all evidence that our problem is 'the rift between left and right' instead of the growth of American fascism. To say plainly that Republicans are lying about everything and advocating policies of hate wouldn't be 'impartial journalism', so they contort the facts into knots to look fair and balanced, instead of reporting the facts.
This article is a fine example, from America's finest practitioner of mainstream and impartial journalism, the New York Times.
One family moved from Oregon to Missouri because they were sick of seeing poor and homeless people. Another family moved from Iowa to Minnesota because Iowa had banned medical care for their son.
These two families are not a matched and balanced set, fodder for a thoughtless think piece. Moving to avoid seeing unpleasant people is not the equivalent of escaping to save your child's life.
Just a brief moment of retrospective reality: Until Trump, had there ever been any ex-President publicly demanding apologies from the incumbent?
At least in my long life, the answer is no. Because all of them, despite all their faults, had some slight touch of class Trump knows nothing about.
It's the Republic of Gilead.
So fucking infuriating. Everything that ever made an American flag not worth burning seems to be over and done with.
Trump is genetically incapable of shutting up, so at last this brings us to the first 'blink' moment in all this: Are they willing to issue and then enforce this rather slight gag order when Trump inevitably breaks it?
Anyone else would've been under a much broader gag order, long ago.
Report a spammer once, for the good of the community, and then block the 'user'. Problem solved. :)
North Korea seems an odd place to escape to, especially after this poor schmo delivered "a profanity-laced tirade against Koreans." He probably won't be sending post cards to friends and family in America, but what the heck, I sincerely wish him a happy life in his new home.
Can the sane states defederate from Florida?
Climate change isn't even mentioned in the coverage, though it's clearly a major contributing factor:
Such floods, known as glacial outburst floods, happen when glaciers melt and pour massive amounts of water into nearby lakes.
That does sound frustrating. Wish I had some good advice to offer.
Have you tried a different browser? I'm on Firefox, but some sites don't play nice with it and I switch to Chrome for a few minutes...
Kbin does log me out once or twice weekly for no known reason, but I have no difficulties logging in again. You say you've cleared site data — cache and cookie? If you've tried it twice and it hasn't worked, time to open a ticket with the help desk (admins).
There, see? Under 110° — climate change has been beaten!
I suppose kids who want to, and work at it, can overcome almost any adversity, but it's breathtaking to intentionally teach children to be stupid.
It's also fucked up that this has been going on for THREE YEARS and is only now trickling into the media.
Destruction such as this will never again be uncommon.
This as a sneak preview not many years into the future, when there'll be no workable supply chains at all, as climate change wreaks hellish havoc everywhere, consistently.
Anyone else old enough to remember when there was at least a pretense of common decency in politics?
I'm not sure about the procedures when a member of Congress waves photos of someone else's member. Does this mean that imagery of Hunter Biden's privates are not to be part of the Congressional Record?
See? Vindicated again!!!!!
