Counter Strike 2 is surprisingly awful on Steam Deck right now
  • The same was said about the steam controller, but in the end it was still shit compared to a mouse. It's just not feasible in a game as competitive as csgo.

  • Haha, nice try

  • OpenAI admits that AI writing detectors don’t work
  • Oh yeah it's an issue, but none of that is on OpenAI. There's no admission here. It's a statement from an authority to shut up the idiots, like a map maker saying earth is a sphere, something we already know but somehow it's still believed by many.

  • OpenAI admits that AI writing detectors don’t work
  • "admit" like this was something they denied? Everyone always knew that ai text detectors don't work and they never claimed otherwise.

  • Interesting, I have aphantasia and yet I have both hypnogogic and hypnopompic hallucinations on occasion. Other than those I never remember dreaming, although I almost always wake up thinking of the same thing I went to sleep thinking of. And when I do have waking dreams / hallucinations it's always of whatever I was thinking about. If I realise the hallucinations aren't real they immediately fall apart which is a shame, as I don't normally get to experience any kind of mental imagery.

  • Personally it just makes me emotional all around, not happy per-say. If anything I'd say it helps me to open up and feel sad, but in a good way. It's like an emotional release. So I can totally see the use in therapy as I personally find it therapeutic already, even without a therapist.

I've not experienced any of the aftereffects that others describe either, but I know some of my friends say they're always very down for a few days after.

  • Eh, you shouldn't get hit with anything serious unless you're hosting a server that's seeding tons of content. The worst I've seen people who occasionally pirate getting is a 'stop being a pirate, asshole!' letter from Disney or something. I tried cyberghost for a while and it was such trash that I wish I hadn't wasted money on it, I've just not bothered with VPNs since.

  • Oh I've meditated many times, including guided meditation with a professional a few times. So while I'm far from an expert, I'd consider myself familiar enough to have reasonable expectations and be able to make comparisons to other meditation tracks. To clarify, I wasn't saying I'm unsuited to meditation, simply unsuited to that specific tape and presumably the tapes that follow. Although I suppose I've never found meditation to be particularly useful anyway apart from for relaxation.

  • It's because meditating doesn't give you an immediate dopamine hit

    Cutting corners is alideen

    New to the hobby

So about a month ago I innoculated 6 wholegrain uncle Ben's rice packets with king oyster mushroom liquid culture. But instead of cutting the packets' corners like every guide says to, I followed a random comment's advice to simply poke the syringe through the packet and cover the syringe hole with micropore tape. A week later I had a try with making a few grain jars using the same liquid culture.

Fast forward to today, and my grain jars are ready to use, yet the rice packets look and feel unchanged. I suspect the poor gas exchange from a tiny syringe hole caused the mycelium to suffocate. I'll have to try going back to those packets and do it properly this time.

So I guess I'm posting to say don't try to cut corners, and instead you should cut corners ✂️
