Playground bullies do prosper – and go on to earn more in middle age
  • Sadly that's untrue, it's simply human nature. Bullies are usually in the popular, social, etc group. And when they pick targets they usually pick people with weaker mentality, personality, or are odd and unusual. One such personality are people who are unempathatic, lack social skills. In a sense they target people that don't fit in.

Kids who grew up as bullies get rewarded later in life because they're simply more social and more likely to start businesses.

Obviously we can't speak with broad strokes in all cases however it's a common observation.

  • Sweet Baby Inc. Doesn’t Do What Some Gamers Think It Does
  • It's still a safer bet to avoid whatever they consult on, they've an eye for trash writing and they thrive on "fixing" that. And companies that hire them are just out there to make a quick buck rather than creating a good story, experience or game.

  • Lemmy is not immune to trolls, bad fait actors or propaganda - in fact, despite how bad reddit is, a lot of Lemmy instances are worse
  • 2 months ago I had my main Reddit account banned because I reported someone for inciting violence. They literally said word for word "they should just go into Gaza and kill them all, women, children, all deserve death after today." I reported him and went on about my day only to find that I was permanently banned from Reddit, no appeals work and this on r/WorldNews not some weird niche subreddit.

  • New Roomba combo bots have swappable dust and water tanks | Ars Technica
  • What is Roomba doing they're YEARS behind their competitors, Roborock in specific. And they've much better offerings as well. It's sad to see them fall to this level especially since they were the intial innovators in the space.

  • Removal of piracy communities
  • Who do you think uses Lemmy in the first place? Normal users or pirates? This is not a shift of gears that will get the advertisers flocking, and this will not suddenly open the doors to the hidden cache of users that were not around because of "pirates." Not to mention, instead of this action, what should have been done is to warn the instances and ask them to follow the rules they had on Reddit, where users are not allowed to link to pirate sites.

  • Scientists hit with massive bills after speaking at COVID-19 ‘webinars’
  • They've gone mad! Since when do you need to pay anything to participate in an online webinar you were invited to??? If it were a conference there's some small fee less than 50 bucks rarely but what is this? I hope that not only this gets thrown out if it ever reaches court but for the company to be punished as well. They're trying to run an MLM scheme on scientists, they really don't know how to pick their victims.

  • Just checked Memmy's new app and now I want WefWef to have one

I don't mean to belittle the work done on the web version, but the overall experience will just never be on par with native apps. You can tell from the delays to the occasional hiccups. Are there any projects that aim to port WefWef to iOS? We can sideload it at least.

The best Lemmy app so far is "Wefwef" hands down. If you loved Apollo you'd love this.

The app has an amazing experience so far, because it feels like I'm just using Apollo, heaps of baked in features that no other app has so far. It's a web app so installation is pretty forward. Much love to the Devs!

(Side note: please change the name to something better. I recommend the name Voyager to keep up with the theme)

    Installation:

    https://wefwef.app/settings/install

    Update:

Having issues? It's to do with rate limitations, this should be resolved soon but right now you can Use:

Here's the Dev's notes on that:

    >Note: Community deployments are NOT maintained by the wefwef team. They may not be synced with wefwef's source code. Please do your own research about the host servers before using them.
