Trying to convince other people to join m/otomegames

  • Any site is a dating site if you’re brave enough
  • You should check out Roblox

  • Flowers are really plants waving their genitals at us.
  • Please don't think while showering ever again

  • Rant: I hate the term “normie”.
  • I have an account for beehaw and it's been pretty chill there so far. However, beehaw is currently defederated with two of the biggest lemmy instances. If you want more content, I'd suggest lemmy.ml (disabled downvotes) or vlemmy.net

  • Rant: I hate the term “normie”.
  • Oh thank god it's not just me who noticed. I think the lack of good moderation tools is contributing to the toxicity problem you're describing. I've noticed reporting doesn't really do anything too.

I've already made another account in another instance. I suggest you do the same if this place gets too much. Sign up approvals can take up to a week to get accepted

  • What are your go-to websites/chefs for recipes?
  • I like JustOneCookbook for Japanese food. Most of the ingredients on her recipes are easily available. I've tried her recipes and they taste good. She also has recipes for ingredients that aren't easily available so you can make your own.

  • Hi! New to kbin, I'd like to know more about the native app that is coming!
  • The API for kbin isn't available yet. The kbin dev wants to polish it a bit more before releasing it. Making applications without an API is pretty hard. The Artemis app right now has a makeshift API to make it work with kbin.

  • Hi! New to kbin, I'd like to know more about the native app that is coming!
  • There is someone developing an Apollo-like app for kbin. It's called Artemis and you can find more information about it here

  • is there a serious, no bullshit alternative for YouTube?
  • Peertube is a YT alternative that's also part of the Fediversse. Might wanna try it out

  • What will Meta gain from fediversing?
  • I would bet 100 dollars they want in on the Fediverse because they want to extinguish a competitor. They did it with Instagram and Whatsapp. They'll do it again.

  • Meta will kill small instances! Please read.
  • I was gonna type out a really neat itemized response but I don't think you're discussing in good faith, just like Meta and Threads. I'd rather take a nap

  • YSK: Threads soon joining the fediverse.
  • Enshittification Any% WR

  • Meta will kill small instances! Please read.
  • Defederating means not interacting with the crowd Meta brings in. I have a bunch of other reasons but that's my main one. And before you suggest blocking, you can't possibly expect me to block all 10M of their users and the domain block is bugged. I know because I tried.

Besides, this place doesn't look like much of a barren wasteland since we're interacting with a bunch of people right now. I don't mind interacting with only weirdo nerds if they're nicer people. Quantity doesn't mean quality after all.

For the people who want to interact with Threads because of family and friends, they should just make an account there. Just don't let Meta destroy this small part of the internet.

  • Meta will kill small instances! Please read.
  • Gotta love the fact Meta contributed to how my country got a murderer and the son of a dictator as presidents. Real great and trustworthy company there /s

  • What would be the problem if Threads federated with Lemmy&co in the future?
  • Besides the whole "Meta being skeevy" thing, the type of people they bring are not people who you want to federate with.
