Lunar Chronicles thoughts
  • It's YA, so only kissing. Absolutely great rewrite of fairy tales. Book 1 in Cinderella, 2 is Red Riding hood, 3 (Cress) is Rapunzel, and 4 is Snow White.

Normally I am a steam queen. Did not have a problem with YA its so well written.

  • Hometown Collection found the kitty!
  • I knew about the black cats. Found a website that tracks them. Did not know about the family drama.

  • Thanks! Haven't figured out the banner size yet, will upload soon.

  • The price of a cinema ticket in this day and age. No wonder people aren't going to the cinema anymore.
  • Same time frame, Puss In Boots, and we were shocked at the price. Haven't been back in one since.

  • Sci fi books
  • Have you tried a LitRPG yet? Dungeon Crawler Carl just had book 6 drop. 1-5 are on audio, and the performances are spectacular.

  • See where Reddit communities migrated to
  • THANK YOU! This is just what I was looking for.

  • IAmA mods no longer willing to work for reddit for free
  • Kind of like the reddit Sekrit Santa shutting down. It was huge, really hard to run, and the volunteers all agreed to stop.

I vaguely remember reading at the time a lot of users went there only for the exchanges and didn't use any other part of reddit.

  • I thought Victoria was shitcanneda while ago? Wasn't she the full timer who helped run that?

  • Musk is undeniably just trying to run twitter into the ground at this point.
  • I think he's just that much of an attention whore, creating drama where it doesn't exist.

  • Hometown Collection found the kitty!

Did you know that many of them have a hidden black cat? !

Looking at Prime, there are a few free audiobooks that aren't tied to Audible. There are more free ones tied to Audible. What are the pros and cons of Audible?
  • As someone who sees it on.both sides, it's horrendously clunky, and users see FAR too little of the good indie authors in any genre.

I love posts where people discover a new author to share, but I don't count on Amazon to recommend it to me.

  • Lemmy is so good right now because there are no kids here
  • As someone who is 57. GTFO my lawn.

  • Is there a term for different styles of audiobook production?
  • Yes. The industry standards are:

    Solo narration: pretty much self-explanatory.

Dual: used primarily in romance. Each narrator voices everything in the chapter that is their POV. Chapters alternate.

Duet: Alternating POV. The narrator voices all narrative, AND their dialogue in all chapters. When POV switches, so does the narrator, who then does all dialogue for their gender.

Multicast: I use this a LOT when narrating RH (reverse harem). So the FMC does narrative and their dialogue, and all other roles are cast for dialogue only. I had one with 14 narrators. Totally like herding cats, but fun.

Immersive: this is your Graphic Audio/ Soundbooth Theater style. Sfx, music, etc. I will be playing Elle McGib in the upcoming Dungeon Crawler Carl fullcast audio.

  • the API changes occur tomorrow, gentlemen, it's been an honor (inb4 Lemmy completely crashes)
  • And ladies. We are here as well. I started an audiobook sub for those who are interested

  • In anticipation of tomorrow's floodgates. Let's talk about audiobooks with chaos

I'll start. Especially since DCC5 ebook drops on the 3rd, andI just finished a second listen to books 1-4.

Dungeon Crawler Carl is my vote for a top tier audiobook with complete chaos
