This guy must know his stuff
  • Plus on many occasions they go with the lowest bidder for the sake of appearances. I remember a company I used to work for went with a very unrealistic low bid to get their foot in the door and then get the maintenance contract that came after implementation.

The project went as well as you’d expect with such a low budget. Experienced people left due to long working hours, unrealistic client expectations and no budget for any quality of life improvements available (I was one of them). The company lost the maintenance bid and will likely lose the best people they still have to the new company taking over the contract.

  • Replacement electric toothbrush heads run on the same scheme as disposable razors with high margins and vendor lock in. I’ve also seen vendors (Phillips) change the design to force you to buy another base station/brush.

  • Mozilla removes uBlock Origin Lite from Addon store. Developer stops developing Lite for Firefox; "it's worrisome what could happen to uBO in the future."
  • This could only lead to a hostile work environment. The process and checks in it is what needs to be questioned. If it came out it was an executive bypassing process, then yes. Otherwise the process can be updated and improved. It also needs to be publicly disclosed why it happened given the nature of the claims.

  • Not sure about her record, but the entry on Wikipedia says her mom works/worked at UNAM (one of the most famous Mexican universities). She was hired there and received some awards. Hard to say, but it has the smell of nepotism at the very least.

Her family mostly seems to associate with middle class directors, politicians and faculty. Definitely more privileged than the average Mexican, not much different than a US president. I’m guessing the policies will be what you’d expect with maybe a spin for the plebeians to think she’s on their side (again, much like the US).

  • How should I continue learning?
  • In addition to your comment, I would add to include apps that don’t sound “as interesting” or different from your usual picks. Along the way, it helps to be willing to refactor if you see a different way to implement it. This can help turn a routine task into a more interesting challenge.

  • I recall also reading about people in Australia and some other places with diets consisting of harder food for developing babies/toodlers having better jaw/teeth ratios and straighter teeth despite no regular access to a dentist, which kind of corroborates the findings.

  • Alternative to Life360?
  • It’s shit for automating things and especially useless outside the Apple ecosystem, but it does offer the option to turn off sharing.

Apple ID -> Find My -> Share My Location

Since it’s closed source it’s possible they still capture the location and I would t trust it, but in practice anyone that you’ve allowed to see your location (for an hour, day, while on-route) gets a “location unknown” on their app of the toggle is off.
