After a long wait, the Khezu model is finally here.
It was worth the wait as it will be the only premium model to play the monster's theme music.
Throw in a meme with a long sword user coming in to fuck up everyone's day and this is complete.
scratch that. fitgirl has 16.0.0.2 with multiplayer now.
Situational, but some pirated copies of games come out with coop ability now. Rise is one. Its only on ver 13 though. So not the best experience, but at least you're not screwed over for buying it.
its really a shame, especially after the messaging about PC being their best market now.
Monster Hunter Modern Warfare (Lost Planet 2) has been mistreated as well by just being delisted with a vague "promise" it will be fixed.
I honestly love most of Capcom's catalogue, but I can't abide this anti-consumer behavior.
Good looking sir. Fingers crossed the shit storm is loud enough to get Linux fixed up for you
Capcom fucked up bigly bois
Added DRM to a 2 year old title. Just confirmed the game wont launch for me. I assume I'd have to remove my REframework mods. I would never have dropped 1300 hours on MHRSB without the handful of QoL mods I use. Capcom is flirting with breaking my 15 year addiction right now.
The chinese didnt deserve that game. Damn I'm jelly. That very first one, people have been asking for a beaver mon for years. Little did they know.
Valor/Brave has been every bit of fun as I expected
I remember while playing MHG on my 3DS seeing some details about the new Brave style in MHXX and being hyped for whenever we would get it. Then Nintendo went and decided to start charging for online, which is a redline for me. So I went from buying a Wii-U and 2 3DSs just for MH to not getting a switch sadly.
But man has this revisit been worth it. Valor is so much damn fun, just like I had hoped all those years ago. GS was this first one that really stood out. But, now that I've finally given it time to breathe and learned it, Valor CB is one of the most fun weapon/style combos I've played in any of the games. I know striker is the meta, but I'm having too much fun to hear all that noise.
Doing the AED3 wild swing on all these old mons with their horrible shitboxes and old AI is just a damn good time. Finding myself responding to the MH BullshitTM moments now with laughter when it was extremely frustrating in the past. Just amusing to see how far things have gone in just one generation. Also fun to spot things in GU that were obvious blueprints for RiseBreak mechanics and systems.
Once I get into G rank I may see if anyone also has the Ryujinx hookup for some multiplayer.
Go get your wishlist on
The hunt is on in Monster Hunter Wilds, the latest installment in the Monster Hunter series, now in development. Experience the pinnacle of excellence in hunting action gameplay. Planned for release in 2025.

I mean, I'm not going to pretend I wont buy Wilds and give it a shot. I'm a hopeless addict after all (trying another Niantic game proves this). I just felt seemingly exactly like you where World was lacking the charm I came to expect. I still remember having an oh shit moment during that first MHW gameplay trailer with Anja. Rock effects instead of blood and this boring, milquetoast-ass straight up plain old T-Rex wannabe. Turned out to be more than that, but that was the first moment I didn't feel like I was seeing "real MonHun."
But RiseBreak knocked it out of the park for me. I feel comfortable calling it my favorite title now (as I make my way through the past with emulation). It was a perfect blend of old and new. And a direct evolution of MHGU mechanic cooking from the portable team.
I hold no only a small grudge against the 5th fleeters. I'm happy for the series' success. I'm just hoping for a modern remaster of old titles now more than ever and that the portable team keeps doing portable team things.
exact same experience, dude. It's why I couldn't muster hype in myself for whatever this was going to be. I knew it would be a "world 2" effectively after that success. I guess its time to just admit the mainline has passed me by. I'll just keep looking forward to eating up what the portable team cooks.
Emulated MHGU
I just recently got MHGU up and running on yuzu and later found some amazing QoL mods on ryujinx. 120FPS mod (from yuzu), camera FOV (huge for me, even gen 5 default is too close still), and a whole-ass, fan-made HD texture pack. Just bonkers to go from last playing MHG on 3DS to this experience. Highly recommend.

I really donβt think, somehow, bizarrely, inexplicably, that niantic or capcom thought their built-in autistic monster hunter fans that do math for their damn video games were going to play this. They probably also donβt want people to know how itβs going to take 12k zenny and 6 rare 6 mats to go from 7-5 to grade 8. Probably would kill casuals spirits.
Most useful for me has been the upgrade calculator on mhn.quest. Shows what cross materials to save for future upgrades so you can safely clean your inventory

Black diablos was part of the diablos event. I still haven't seen a Pink lady yet, but saw a few Black blos. Doesn't feel like a point to the "week-long" aspect of this event. Assuming only the weekend spawns will be good.
Yeah, I doubt it has legs as it is. It sits in a precarious position between too grindy/inaccessible for casuals and not able to be sweaty grinder by hardcore hunters. Could be wrong though, maybe if you play it really casually, but I doubt thereβs money to be made there. Which, there is no current onus to spend other than potions at the moment so they also donβt have a great financial model. Itβs got a lot to fix if it wants life. Not a surprise though after hearing about all the other non-POGO niantic fails.
Iβve had decent luck with 3+ rarity but the 2 is actually running at mantle level RNG for me. And I think that is a common problem from what I see. So maybe something is tuned wrong under the hood.
MHNow thoughts 2 weeks later
Moment to moment play is good. Capcom clearly got involved to make the combat this robust for a tap-only mobile game.
I really hate the timer. It feels extremely antithetical to the MH spirit. And before you out-gear mons it causes high-risk gameplay. So of course it was by design since potions cost money.
The spawn rates for nodes being 3 hours is the most brain dead thing i can possibly imagine. You can't play this at a park for hours on end just spinning stops like in POGO. I can't see how that decision does anything but discourage long term play from what otherwise could have been.
The randomness of the biomes and their shifting is also a barrier to long term play.
As is, I'm currently only playing GPS spoofing as it seems the only effective use of playtime. If that catches me a ban, I'll go back to the real thing.
I hope Capcom sees what could be and makes something better out of it.

This is never a good question to ask. Everyone is just going to suggest their favorite. Or for the multi-users, all their faves. RiseBreak is really the title to try out everything and see what feels good. And don't neglect mixing up the switch skills. I ended up loving weapons I always hated because of that.
Because you've already dove into what is generally considered the hardest for beginners, you'll probably be fine with anything else you pick up. So I would recommend Switch Axe. It has a lighter gauge management mechanic but is faster. No defense though, until you get the elemental burst counter.
No idea what that comment about LS could mean. RiseBreak is a DPS focused game for a majority of players. But you don't have to focus on it if you have more fun playing a different way. LS is just very counter heavy, so knowing your weapon and the mons very well is perhaps the biggest roadblock.

If you miss it on the Supply Items tab like I did, guess you have to wait till the next day to claim the registration rewards. Typical Niantic jank.
