A nice, thin coat every 10 years has kept this going strong while still enabling the feel of the wood coming through to my hands. I would definitely recommend your stick a thin coat of satin spar urethane to preserve it’s characteristics and appearance, if considering it. Doesn’t change its color much at all, just gives it a slight “wet wood” appearance.

It may be time for a long-overdue glamour shoot.
