Trump allegedly discussed US nuclear subs with foreign national after leaving White House
  • Knowing Trump, it would sound a lot like "Are you sure you want to threaten me with NOT building my glorious Trump tower? We have nukes, you know. They can level your entire country. Just let me build my tower"

  • DIY A/C questions
  • I was on a trip to Tyler, and AC wasn't the best. My dad decided to use one of those kits to recharge, and it ended up killing my compressor. So I went ahead and got the gauges since they didn't have them where I lived (neither oreilly nor auto zone)

I'm not finding any compressors online that state whether they're prefilled or not. One kit includes PAG oil (so I assume it's not prefilled). How would I go about adding any if I do need to? I assume it's through the yellow line just before I put my coolant?

    DIY A/C questions

I'm looking to change out my whole A/C system. Since I'm in Texas, I'd like to do it in the winter or, at least in the next couple of months, would rather be recommended, or should I wait until summertime?

Still need parts and to buy a vacuum pump for said repair

Microsoft Edge is actually good lmao
  • Just because a garden is walled doesn't mean it's better. It just means that you need specialty solutions instead of pre-baked solutions that are on the open market

I agree that the UX is better on MacOS, but it's because of the immense amount of hand-holdong

  • Microsoft Edge is actually good lmao
  • I like the memes, but that's it. I use Linux, sure, but I also have to use Windows for a few programs because WINE doesn't work with said programs, and the alternatives aren't the best

With that being said, would I prefer Linux to be mainstream? Yes. Will it ever be? Probably not. Too many people just want something that works out of the box and don't want to spend hours fixing some obscure bug.

I am a nerd. Therefore, I am okay spending time working on my machine and making sure everything runs well. I have previously looked at an OS that doesn't seem to work or is starting to have issues and completely swap to a different distro using a base I have used and know will work 100% of the time

  • [help] Old Minecraft versions are basically unplayable.
  • As others have been saying, it's most likely a Java issue.

Make sure to install (or reinstall) Java8 and make sure it's selected in the prism launcher for use under v1.8.9 specifically. That way, you can continue to play using Java17 on recent versions a bit simpler than having to constantly swap Java versions

  • It’s all a scam, don’t even try to tell me it’s useful
  • Yeah, I knew it wouldn't be cost effective since my old rig had an AMD RX580 8gb, but if I could play games and already have a space heater, I may as well mine crypto to heat up the whole house. Nowadays I'm just using Folding@Home during the winter

  • It’s all a scam, don’t even try to tell me it’s useful
  • I can understand monero since you can actually use it as a currency on some certain websites, but that's basically it. I do not care about crypto anymore because of the almost toxic culture it can brew.

Back when reddit was a thing, I asked how to even start with crypto (what type of wallet, general set up general use etc) and just didn't even talk about the actual mining (I remember saying something around the lines of "I'm looking to mine because it's supposed to get extra cold this winter, I do not care about actually getting any crypto" and those dense mfers kept linking a website that calculates how much I would make with the cost of electricity and the efficiently of it all... like.... I didn't even care about making anything, I just didn't want it going into the ether)

    Anyways that's my rant

  • Do this if a church tells you how to vote
  • The worst a priest said, around where I live at least, is that "you should vote within your beliefs as a catholic. Primary issue is abortion, I'm not telling you how to vote but I am asking that you do your research and try to vote within the beliefs of the church"

Other than that, politics was NEVER talked about
