Keep in mind that Meta's Threads doesn't have ActivityPub integrated yet. Doubt they are going to get any protection from the fediverse.
Blade Runner hits those themes, but it pushes the discussion around Replicants, which are stand-ins for The Others in society. Those movies don't hit the POV of street level, which is different than most cyberpunk works.
Your search results will recover when the information is reposted elsewhere. Not something to really get bent out of shape over.
More to the point, it is open source and running it involves different instances. If the original programmers become too problematic, it will get forked. Plenty of people run their own instances and could block the .ml instance if they want. That's the intended nature of being open like it is.
