Pre-Camp House Cleaning
Hey all, with camp just a few weeks away I'd like to reach out to you and see what you would like to see. After all, this is YOUR forum much more than it is mine.
Anything you'd like to see from me? Any kind of content you'd like to do or take over? Anything I'm doing that annoys the hell out of you?
Generally I've been trying to do an opponent preview on Monday/Tuesday, game thread, and post game thread. And yeah, I've missed occasionally. Sorry.
Let me know what you think.
I've run a Raspberry Pi with PiHole for years on top of playing with Pi's and trying out distros with USB boot. I'm new to the day to day reality of living with Linux. So yeah, I'm still shifting my mindset to full time Linux. Great thing is Linux has improved so much. It's a long way better than trying to install Slackware in the late 90s.
And I went burn-the-ships with this move. I'm not dual booting, I backed up files, and formatted everything.
I found a comment on another website that said you have to install Steam/Lutris from the PopOS Deb package and not the flatpak. I know they were installed by flatbak from the Pop OS store. So uninstalled and reinstalled as the Deb package and I can know swap the install directory for games to another drive. One more step down in my Linux switch.
How to install apps in other locations?
So just got my computer switched over to Pop! OS.
When I open the Pop Shop, the installers don't give me an option to change the location of the app installs. I have 4 disks, 2 nvmes, 2 hard disks. I would prefer to install some of my apps to the 2nd nvme, which I have mounted to /Apps. Mainly the games I will play, along with Stream and Lutris.
Would I need to install from the terminal with apt or nala? I installed nala because it looks cleaner, but we'll see.

Doesn't Kasa phone home to China?
Lions sign Jake Bates to a two year deal
The Lions are signing big-footed UFL kicker Jake Bates to a two-year contract this week, his agent, Marty Magid, told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Bates signed a 2 year deal with the Lions after visiting the Packers and Commanders. Bates gained attention in the UFL while on the Michigan Panthers, where he kicked game winning, 64 yard and 62 yard field goals. He was 17 of 22 (77%) for the Panthers, including 7 of 7 from 40-49 yards and 6 of 10 with 50+ yards.
Interesting they gave him a two year deal instead of a one year prove it deal. Maybe they anticipate him winning the job?
I'm so glad the Lions got the Jared Goff contract done. But by this time next year it won't look outrageous. Same thing happened the last time we resigned Stafford.
Ironically, that is why I wanted Stadia to succeed. It would have forced many game companies to consider Linux.
But Google screwed the pooch.
Maps with the jurors' homes circled.
Would a toaster get hot enough to render fat?
We already have, Tubby. We have.
The potential problem is they waited too long to make season 2 and killed the momentum. Wednesday on Netflix is in the same boat.
The states around us spend an average of three times as much as Michigan on road maintenance and road construction. Another part of the problem is we use the same low bidders who have proven track records for cutting corners and budget overruns. We don't adopt mechanisms to cut out the crap construction.
It's not that, it's the freight trucks. We have a much higher weight limit than other states, and it tears up our roads. States around us spend about 3 times as much on roads as we do.
Way back in the day, my best friend had a family friend that owned a computer software store. He rented games and gave us copies of the latest and greatest copy programs with a wink-wink and a nudge-nudge.
Remember, no business is required to tell the truth. Had a pipeline go through my backyard and you would not believe the lies that company told. Glad I lawyered up instead of believing the lies.
Only if you sold it. Back when cassette tapes first came out, the mystic industry sued, and the Supreme Court ruled it fair use. So VHS tapes were under the same umbrella. We wouldn't get that same ruling now.
It the same mechanism. They can do it, they just don't want to.
They can. I buy and gift games to my son all the time.
That info can go stale quickly as content licensing changes. I've ran into that plenty.

Lions Match Brock Wright's Offer from the 49ers
Detroit Lions Brad Holmes elects to match Brock Wright offer sheet with San Francisco.
The Lions have matched Brock Wright’s three-year, $12 million offer sheet with the San Francisco 49ers.
While LaPorta may be our #1 going forward, Wright played 44% of the Lions' snaps. He's still a big part of our offense.
Lions re-sign cornerback Kindle Vildor
One year deal, but details haven't been released yet.
WR Josh Reynolds signs with the Denver Broncos
The Detroit Lions were interested in re-signing Josh Reynolds, but were reluctant to overspend on a potential No. 3 WR next season.
Reynolds signs a two year, $14M deal with the Denver Broncos.
Guess DPJ is WR3 for now.
Warrant issued for Cam Sutton's arrest.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Detroit Lions cornerback Cam Sutton, whom police say is wanted for a domestic violence incident in Florida.
Detroit Lions cornerback Cam Sutton is wanted in connection with a domestic violence incident in Florida.
Not the news we wanted to hear.
Lions sign G Kevin Zeitler
Lions sign former Ravens Guard, Kevin Zeitler, to a one year contract, pending physical.
The Lions re-sign Donovan Peoples-Jones
Lions bring back DPJ on a 1 year, $2M contract.
The Lions land free agent DJ Reader, DT.
Reader and Alim McNeill have a chance to be one of the better 1-2 interior combos in the league.
Reader is the best run stuffing nose tackles in the league. Should help us in all phases of defense by swallowing up and pushing around those interior linemen.
The Lions extend GM Brad Holmes, Coach Dan Campbell, and Special Assistant Chris Spielman.
Detroit Lions announce contract extensions for coach Dan Campbell and GM Brad Holmes through 2027 — a no-brainer given the 2023 season they had.
Holmes and Campbell were extended for 4 more years.
CJ Gardner-Johnson signs with the Eagles
3 years, $33M.
Not surprising. With us signing a slot corner/nickle and the rise of Brian Branch, Lions were not willing to commit big money to CJ. Good luck CJ.
Detroit Lions re-sign Dan Skipper
Dan Skipper should compete for the Detroit Lions' swing tackle job next fall after appearing in a career-high 11 games last season.
Terms not disclosed yet.
Yay! Skipper is back!
Lions sign CB Amik Robertson
Lions sign the former Raiders CB Amik Robertson. It's a two-year, $9.25 million deal worth up to $10.75 million with incentives per NFL Network.
Lions Trade for CB Carlton Davis
According to Adam Schefter:
Lions receive: CB Carlton Davis, Buccaneers 2024 6th-round pick and a 2025 6th-round pick
Buccaneers receive: Lions 2024 third-round pick.
Carlton Davis hasn't played a complete season in his entire career. He's good, not great, but I think we got hosed on this one. Carlton Davis has one year left on his contract.
