Never forget what they took from us...
  • There used to be an effort made with how you play a game to get achievements. The Orange box was a great example of this. The 'Little Rocket Man' and 'The One Free bullet' achievements both made you play the game in a different way. Sadly now it's mostly just 'play the game' 'collect all the things'.

  • “I come from the slums; I come from a hard background; I come from a poor family; and I was a soldier.”
  • I've seen this film every year since it was on vhs. Last night I took my kids to see it at the cinema and it still holds up. "When Love is Gone" was back in it's rightful place and having not seen it for a good few years it's such a welcome return. The pacing is totally messed up by it's removal.

  • The superior rule
  • I've read it every year for years now (self imposed tradition) and it take me about 4 days with an hour or so a day. Not a long book by any stretch.

I'm also of the opinion that The Muppet Christmas Carol is both the best and most accurate adaptation.

  • Have your say: What is and isn't acceptable speech in the community.
  • My gut reaction is to agree with you. But at the same time I wonder if it's far easier for me to take this stance because it's very unlikely that I will ever be the target of any kind of abuse. I sit in a very safe position, very much in a majority in almost any way other than things I can choose. So despite my first thought being much the same as yours I can't by election but think I should instead listen to other voices around me?

  • Coming of Age
  • I can't find nd my copy of the books but did find this quote from C.S Lewis

“Peter gets back to Narnia in it. I am afraid Susan does not. Haven’t you noticed in the two you have read that she is rather fond of being too grownup? I am sorry to say that side of her got stronger and she forgot about Narnia.”

It's just such a narrow attitude to children growing up. I love how Philip Pullman covers the same subject by celebrating the change from child to adult (or young adult). C.S Lewis is seems angry that childhood ends and children might have the audacity to change.

  • Coming of Age
  • No it mentions her interest in things Aslan disapproved of a few times or at least alludes to it a few times throughout. Frankly his attude to women and the girls is bloody awful at best.
