I was wondering how much you are using your Steam Deck? And did the games you play on it change since you bought it?

I find that I used it a lot when I first got it, but my usage has gone down in the mean time. That's mostly because I play games that are not a great fit for the Steam Deck (strategy, building, etc.) and I prefer to play those on my PC.

Sorry this post is a week late, been busy with real life stuff.

I'm interested in hearing both about if you still use the default carrying case that comes with the deck, and if you use any kind of protective clip-on case such as the Killswitch, JSAUX Modcase, or other.

What controller are you using with the Deck?

My pick after searching around is the 8BitDo Ultimate C (link) which is the cheaper version of the ultimate with no dock. So far, it's been working well for me. I just had to restart the Deck the first time after the pairing, since then, it recognize the device all the time.

I mean old like Sega Rally Revo. This is not my video, but it sums up my experience playing in deck. The graphics doesn't feel too old when compared to today's games and I'm not sure why but I always get above 100fps even i limit deck settings to 60.

I post his as a way to gather some information an suggestions.

Basically i already have Yuzu installed through emudeck and for now it still works. So, will emudeck unistall/disable yuzu automatically? Should i disable Emudeck updates ? Anyone have some link to download yuzu?

Here's a couple of useful info i learned after using emulators for a couple of weeks. This is by far not a tutorial, just things i wish i had known sooner.

YUZU (Switch) - This may vary from game to game, but from my experience seems that Yuzu gives better fps. The XCI roms are a bit bigger but don't require any firmware, instead Nsp does, but you can find the Firmware online pretty easily. Some game more demanding will run way better after activating some mods. Just open yuzu>help>Open Mods page and download what you need, the right click (L2) the game and select > Open Mod Data Location and past inside the (unzipped) mod.

Zelda - Breath of the wild is "kinda" playable on Switch but is way better to use the Wii U rom on Cemu (enable the FPS++ mod to fix the fps) - I can't give any link but the site where i find the best rom is "8bitsdown" (google it)

Cemu (Wii U) - You need some key codes (number and letters) but just google "Wii U keys" and past them in the txt Key file inside the Wii U folder. As yuzu some games works better with mods. Cemu > right click (L2) the game > modify the graphic package> Download the Updated package from the community> check any mod or cheats you want.

PCSX2QT (ps2) - Some roms may need the bios file. You can increase the resolution in graphic setting> internal resolution ( i use 3x native - 1080p)

Retroarch is also good for "clear" the graphics of old snes or psx games using shaders and filters (check these videos Link1 | link2) - BTW Retroarch is installable from emudeck too, after that just add the app to the library as non steam game.

I just made this post to share info and suggestions on the best games to try. Right now I'm playing a (totally owned) rom of Zelda breath of the wild and so far is flawless (although stuck to 30 fps x some reason). Any suggestion for other good game??

I just found out the PSP Go was a thing and I really like the idea of having the screen slide up to reveal the controls. I think this would be a great way to make a more compact version of the Steamdeck. I don't know about the low profile joysticks though. I've never used anything like those before and I'm not sure how they'd feel to use. Maybe it would just be something I'd have to get used to. Regardless, I'd love to hear what other people think about this idea. Edit: I think I should clarify. I'm mostly referring to the style with the sliding screen. I don't think something as small as the psp would be a good idea either

2023 was a pretty amazing year for games, but I'm also interested to hear what didn't meet expectations or didn't run as well as you expected it to.

How would you rate the OLED deck? Did you keep your LCD deck? Have you noticed any of the smaller improvements like a more responsive touch screen? Has the battery life improvement been noticable?

I've just installed Epic Game Launcher on the Deck and had an issue where the starting screen was black. I've already find the fix in * this discussion.

I found something that seems to work. In the 3rd party launcher in Steam used for the Epic game launcher, go to Properties->Shortcut->Target, and change the text to:

"{The path to the epic game launcher}/EpicGamesLauncher.exe" -opengl
